A Kindle FarmBus Driver can expect to interact on a daily basis with children who attend Kindle Farm and serve as their trusted transportation to and from school. As such, a School Bus Driver should be free of any traffic or criminal violations and should have an authoritative, yet calming demeanor and a strong understanding of traffic laws.
The successful candidate will enjoy working as a team member to ensure a safe and supportive school environment. Responsibilities and Duties of the School Bus Driver position:
- Transport children and other passengers to and from school
- Obey all traffic laws
- Ability to carry out assigned route on time
- Maintain a clean and mechanically sound bus at all time
- Ensure the safety of all students
- Utilize Kindle Farm Behavioral Support Methods as needed to maintain a safe environment
- Perform inspections of the bus before and after each route
- Attend safety meetings as required
Qualifications:
- Education/Certification: Valid Vermont or New Hampshire driver's license, A Commercial (Class B) preferred
- Must be 18 years of age
- Ability to complete required Bus Driver safety training
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Knowledge of student Kindle Farm support procedures
- Ability to manage student behavior
- Ability to operate bus
- Clean driving record with no at-fault accidents or traffic citations within the last five years
- Two or more years of experience working with children preferred
- One or more years of experience
Equipment Used:
- School owned and maintained light van, locks, seatbelts, harnesses, car seats, safety equipment (flares, reflective signs), fire extinguisher.
- Working Conditions:
- Maintain emotional control. Continual sitting, reaching, and repetitive hand and arm motions; pushing, pulling, moderate lifting. Work outside and inside; moderate exposure to extreme temperatures and vehicle fumes.
