- Safe and reliable operation of full-size bus.
- Recording of accurate rider count information.
- Excellent communication with Summer Program Directors and Recreation Superintendent.
- Complete daily checklist of bus systems and safety devices to ensure they function properly.
- Report all bus mechanical and safety issues immediately to Recreation Superintendent.
- Plan and coordinate day to day operations for bus trips.
- Assist in the planning and scheduling of weekly bus operations.
- Check area for safety hazards and report deficiencies to supervisor.
- Attend staff meetings and staff trainings as required.
- Report all accidents and incidents to supervisor.
- Administer proper First Aid as required.
- Required to report to work 30 minutes before first bus trip.
- Required to perform routine bus maintenance and clean up at the end of the day.
- Participate in the evaluation process.
- Position may require operation of City vehicle and/or personal vehicle to conduct City business.
- Ability to actively support City diversity, equity, and cultural competency efforts within stated job responsibilities and work effectively across diverse cultures and constituencies.
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion as evidenced by ongoing trainings and professional development.
- Must have a valid State of VT Bus Driver Operator's License with School Bus Endorsement.
- Ability to obtain a valid driver's license within 45 days of hire and the continued maintenance of a valid driver's license. Operation of a City vehicle or personal vehicle to conduct City business without providing proof of a valid driver's license to Human Resources will not be permitted. A valid driver's license shall be defined as a current state of residence-issued license to operate a motor vehicle on public roadways. The position also requires the ability to be covered under the City's vehicle insurance policy prior to the operation of any City vehicles or non-City vehicles for City business.
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Must pass a background check.
- Must have at least two years of experience operating a full-size bus.
- All bus driving training and operating certifications must be up to date.
