Moonshots are a series of 5-10-year projects designed to fill crucial gaps in the political, cultural, media, and talent ecosystems. We believe that this moment requires a complete rethinking of how we engage Latinos. Our approach is to work collaboratively with partners and allies, lead with learning and research, and build programs that address the deep-rooted issues that prevent our community from becoming influential and powerful.

Our Media and Culture Moonshots are focused on creating new forms of Media and cultural moments that instill pride and power in the Latino community.

POSITION SUMMARY

Equis is seeking a Special Assistant to the Chief of Strategic Initiatives, Media, and Culture to provide administrative and general operational support for the Moonshot team.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain complex calendars and correspondence for the Chief of Strategic Initiatives, Media, and Culture, with a keen time management mindset
  • Work across the Moonshot team, manage competing priorities, prioritize, delegate, and book meetings or travel
  • Prepare correspondence and other key documents/written materials on behalf of the Chief of Moonshot Strategy, Media and Culture
  • Assist in planning special events, meetings, and conferences, ability to work occasional evenings and weekends
  • Support logistical aspects of in-person meetings and special events. Coordinate travel arrangements, including accommodations, transportation, and meals
  • Complete administrative, research, and other duties as assigned
  • Input data for monthly expense reports
  • Maintain and update the contacts database

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following:

  • Relevant Work Experience and Topic Interest - 3 years of relevant work experience as an assistant, scheduler, or in the entertainment, media, and Culture fields. Clear and demonstrated interest in supporting entertainment, media, and Culture programs.
  • Professionalism and Clear Communicator - Displays courtesy and sensitivity to all. Responds promptly and professionally to external and internal requests. Able to navigate high-level principal relationships and sensitive situations with discretion and thoughtfulness.
  • Detail Oriented, Good Judgement and Preparation - Reviews documents, catches mistakes, crosses T's and dots I's. Exercises good judgment for scheduling and priority setting (and asks questions when needed). Able to anticipate various scenarios. Prepares principles for upcoming events and meetings.
  • Operationally-Oriented: Prioritizes and plans work activities. Sets goals and objectives. Uses time efficiently. Works in an organized manner and communicates needs or points of clarification.
  • Independent Problem Solving - Self-starter. Does not always need to wait for direction. Develops and thinks through alternative solutions. Gather and analyze information skillfully. Identifies and raises problems promptly. Resolves problems in early stages. Works well in group problem-solving situations. Exhibits excellent time-management skills.
  • Team Player - Balances team and individual responsibilities. Contributes to building a positive team spirit. Exhibits objectivity and openness to views. Builds morale and Culture.
  • Key Programmatic Experience - Fluent in G-Suite and willingness to learn other key systems.

DESIRED EXPERIENCE

  • Previous experience as an assistant, or scheduler, in the media, entertainment, and Culture fields is preferred but not required.
  • Spanish language fluency is desired but not required (reading, writing, speaking).

THIS POSITION REPORTS TO

Chief of Strategic Initiatives, Media and Culture

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

LOCATION

Remote (USA), PST time zone. Frequent domestic travel according to CDC guidelines. Some international travel may be required. Equis is a national remote office environment with team members located across all continental U.S. time zones. Candidates should be prepared to either work from home or at a location of their choosing that is located within the continental United States. Equis has implemented a pro-vaccination policy, subject to exemptions. Candidates must be willing to follow the established policy to prevent and limit the exposure of COVID-19.

This position requires the ability to work core hours Monday through Friday in PST local time. This position will require occasional evening and weekend work and some in-person attendance for all-staff, departmental, and programmatic events.

Full-Time

SALARY AND BENEFITS
The salary expectation for this particular position is $60,000-$85,000, depending on relevant experience and location. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as budget availability and commensurate with the selected candidates' experience. This position is currently funded through 2025.
