Job Description
We are looking for a talented Sous Chef with at least 2 years of experience in a similar role, focusing on Japanese cuisine, to join our upscale casual concept in Brooklyn. As Sous Chef, you will assist the Head Chef in managing the kitchen, preparing, and cooking delicious Japanese dishes, and maintaining the highest standards of food quality, presentation, and taste.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Head Chef in managing the kitchen and supervising the culinary team
- Ensure the highest standards of food quality, presentation, and taste are met
- Develop new and innovative menu items
- Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked kitchen
- Train and mentor kitchen staff to improve their skills and performance
- Ensure a safe and healthy work environment
Requirements:
- At least 2 years experience in a similar role
- Knowledge of Japanese cooking techniques and ingredients
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to multitask
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
- Culinary degree or equivalent experience preferred
