- Operates a specialized fully automated or semi-automated side loading vehicle to collect curbside carts filled with trash or recycling materials; or yard debris operates controls inside or outside the truck to connect mechanical arm to cart and to dump trash in the vehicle.
- Operates a rear loading SOLID WASTE vehicle to collect residential dumpsters; exits vehicle to operate controls to connect dumpster to empty trash.
- Drives a dual sided loader in congested areas to collect SOLID WASTE; exits the vehicle to collect trash cart and empty in side troth.
- Drives pick-up trucks on assigned residential routes to collect bagged yard debris; hauls bags to Public Services Center and unloads debris.
- Drives vehicle along an assigned residential or commercial route(s); hauls filled truck to the landfill or recycling center.
- Assist coworkers in completing routes and responds to service tickets for missed carts.
- Leaves tickets and notes with residents to explain reasons when pick-up is not possible and informs supervisor of the circumstances.
- Performs daily pre and post trip inspections of truck; cleans and washes vehicle and performs general vehicle maintenance to include checking oils and fluids, greasing equipment and fueling vehicle; reports any unsafe conditions of equipment and other necessary repairs to supervisor.
- Completes daily inspection sheet of activities.
- Delivers collection carts to residents; picks up damaged carts
- Answers questions from citizens regarding department procedures.
- Must be cross trained to help other departments during inclement weather conditions, whatever is needed.
- Assists other Public Service divisions as needed.
- Performs related duties as required

This position requires enforcing and following all Village of Pinehurst and OSHA safety regulations.
