Classification: Full-time exempt position (40 hours/week)

Reports to: Marketing and Membership Senior Manager

Staff supervision: n/a

Leadership Liaison and Support to: Membership and Communications Committee

Salary: $60,000 - $70,000/ year

Summary:

The Social Media Senior Specialist holds a vital role within the Marketing and Membership team of the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH). This position involves spearheading the development and execution of a comprehensive Social Media strategy to enhance the Society's online presence. With a specific focus on scientific publications, such as the Journal of Thrombosis and Haemostasis (JTH) and Research and Practice in Thrombosis and Haemostasis (RPTH), the Specialist will utilize their expertise to extend the reach of the ISTH journals and actively contribute to broader Social Media initiatives.


This role requires strategic thinking, exceptional content creation skills, and a creative approach to multimedia that aligns with diverse content needs. An essential aspect involves audience segmentation based on Social Media platforms, ensuring that tailored messages resonate effectively across different channels. Additionally, the Specialist will implement Social Media A/B testing methodologies to refine messaging, ensuring its appropriateness for each platform. The position demands a keen focus on analytics to track and measure the impact of campaigns, combined with a genuine passion for engaging with diverse international audiences.

Key Responsibilities:


Publications Social Media Strategy:

• Devise and implement a targeted Social Media strategy for the Journal of Thrombosis and Haemostasis (JTH) and Research and Practice in Thrombosis and Haemostasis (RPTH), working with editors, leadership and internal staff, in collaboration with the Marketing & Membership Senior Manager.
• Create engaging and visually appealing content to promote publications, including graphics, multimedia, and interactive features.
• Collaborate closely with the editorial team to highlight key research findings, articles, and events within the journals.
• Monitor and engage with the global scientific community to foster discussions around thrombosis and hemostasis topics.
• Review analytics and report findings on various Social Media channels.


ISTH Social Media Strategy:

• Lead the development and execution of the overarching ISTH Social Media strategy, covering Meetings, Education, Membership, External Affairs, and Campaigns on platforms including X, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok and others as appropriate, in collaboration with the Marketing & Membership Senior Manager.
• Generate innovative and impactful content across multiple channels to promote ISTH programs and initiatives.
• Coordinate the creation and implementation of digital ads for various campaigns, ensuring brand consistency and maximum reach.
• Monitor, analyze, and report on the performance of Social Media campaigns using relevant analytics tools.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment between Social Media efforts and organizational goals.


Job Requirements:


• Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams to help develop and execute successful Social Media strategies, particularly in the medical or scientific field.
• Exceptional written and visual communication skills, including graphic design and multimedia content creation.
• In-depth understanding of Social Media advertising and remarketing strategies.
• Proficient in using analytics tools to track, analyze, and report on Social Media performance.
• Familiarity with the healthcare field, and an ability to translate complex scientific information into engaging Social Media content.
• Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
• High level of creativity, attention to detail, and a passion for staying abreast of Social Media trends.
• Strong team player, flexible, with high energy, enthusiasm and sense of humor
• Desire to learn and contribute
• Multicultural sensitivity via all forms of communication, i.e. written, spoken, presentations, etc.
• Ability and willingness to work additional hours as required

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, or related field OR minimum of 4 years of professional experience in Social Media coordination, with a focus on publications and scientific content, OR combination of both.
• Project and/or campaign management experience is essential
• Significant experience with online content delivery (website, blogs, Social Media)
• Agency experience working on behalf of multiple clients, awareness campaign coordination and/or community/relationship building on behalf of an international organization is a plus
• Experience adhering to editorial standards and style guides (CMOS, AP, APA, etc.) preferable
• Knowledge of HTML and CSS is preferable as well as skills in Photoshop, Canva or related software


Work Environment:
• This position is primarily sedentary and may require some bending and lifting.
• Occasional weekend work assignments (approx. 2 - 3x per year)
