League One Volleyball (LOVB, pronounced “love”) is reimagining the sport of volleyball. Launched in 2019, our company is a mission-led sports performance, development and professional league that seeks to empower new generations of women athletes.
It is a groundbreaking time for volleyball in the US with our historic triple Olympic Gold medals in Women's Indoor, Beach and Sitting Volleyball. Volleyball is already the #1 most played girls' youth team sport. There are 38M current and former players today. Of major sports, it's the only one that is women-first (~90% of players are women). But the volleyball market has been almost entirely missed by traditional sports investors, brands, and media.
LOVB is capturing this opportunity. Today, we have created the largest youth club business in the country and are creating the next major American sports league. This community-up approach will drive participation and fandom, while enabling greater empowerment for girls and young women living this amazing sport. In this role, you will join a mission-driven, roll-up-your-sleeves team of innovators and builders who have come together to change the paradigm of professional volleyball and women’s sport.
The Role:
As the Social Media Specialist for LOVB, you will be focused on supporting the digital media staff to create digital connections between LOVB Pro, LOVB Clubs, our athletes, and our fan base. This individual will be responsible for content creation and community management. This is a role that will work closely with the LOVB Central marketing, social and content teams. With LOVB Pro launching in 2024, this is an exciting opportunity to be part of building a league from scratch. You’ll be at the forefront of generating fresh and engaging ideas, designing eye-catching visuals, and understanding the nuances of content that resonates effectively on social platforms.
Key Activities:
- Assist in creating weekly and monthly editorial calendars.
- Provide support to the Social Media manager to ensure all projects are executed in a timely and accurate manner.
- Collaborate on the creation and distribution of day-to-day content.
- Track Social Media engagement to identify high-performing ideas and campaigns.
- Perform Social Media marketing research to stay up to date on the latest Social Media trends and pop culture references.
- Respond to comments and DMs on Social Media platforms.
- Brainstorm and research ideas for original content.
- Write Social Media captions that speak to the company’s target audience.
- Help create and edit short-form videos.
- Ensure brand message is consistent.
- Assist with fan engagement, YouTube community tab management, comment moderation and livestream activities.
- Work with the analytics team to create regular reports and share channel performance with organization stakeholders.
- May perform other duties as assigned.
The Experience You Will Bring:
- Minimum 2 years related work experience in Social Media, marketing, or sports.
- Prior corporate or sports industry experience with Social Media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and TikTok.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university (Marketing, Communications, or a related field preferred).
- Strong understanding of volleyball.
- Ability to develop new and creative ideas focused on LOVB clubs, LOVB Pros, and the pro cities.
- Social media fluent.
- Thorough understanding of relevant platforms and what’s happening on them.
- Experience writing Social Media copy, video titles and descriptions.
- Proficient knowledge of Figma and/or Adobe Creative Suite (or other video and photo editing platforms) .
- Attention to detail.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, with high proficiency in English copy.
- Ability to quickly assimilate new information and learn new skills is critical.
- Excellent computer skills including MS Office to include Word and Excel, and a proficiency in graphic design and Photoshop.
- Must be focused, extremely detail-oriented and highly organized.
- Ability to juggle multiple tasks and timely completion is critical.
- Must be a team player with a strong fan focus.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends as required.

Location:
Flexibility to work anywhere in the US with willingness to travel for off-sites and other business-related destinations.
Reports to the Social Media Manager, based in California.

The annual base salary for this role is $50,000-$60,000, plus our comprehensive benefits package. Actual compensation to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based on geographic location, work experience, education and/or skill level, among other things.
