Provide management of the day-to-day operations of the Central Garage and oversight of the work production, quality and quality of work completed. May schedule work assignments, assign hours and work locations. Train and/or evaluate employees as well as difficult operational problems.

1. Directly responsible for management of Central Garage in Director's absence.2. Provides training to staff members as required.
3. Plans and assigns daily workload.
4. Evaluates performance of subordinates and identifies strength and weaknesses, provides employee and job development, performance motivation, or recommendations for staff replacement if necessary.
5. Provides daily or frequent reports to managers.
6. Acts as first level resource for staff questions regarding customer issues, policies and etc.
7. Coordinates with other departments to expedite work, improve performance, and control costs.
8. Performs quality check of department staff work and makes correction as necessary. Tests equipment for safe and efficient operation.
9. Establishes and enforces procedures to expedite and improve processes.
10. Participates in personnel matters including hiring and disciplinary actions and resolution of departmental employee disputes.
11. Orders and picks up parts and supplies. Ensures that parts and tire inventory are maintained.
12. Makes roads calls and repairs equipment in the field.
13. Designs, fabricates and builds special projects for vehicles and equipment.

- Bachelor's Degree in related field + a minimum of five (5) full-time years' experience in automotive repair AND must have a working knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of the field of automotive repair.
- Associate's Degree with Two (2) full-time years of related experience + a minimum of five (5) full-time years' experience in automotive repair AND must have a working knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of the field of automotive repair.
- High School Diploma or GED with Four (4) full-time years of related experience + a minimum of five (5) full-time years' experience in automotive repair AND must have a working knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of the field of automotive repair.
- A current and valid Class C driver's license is required upon hire.
If hired, must provide proof of educational attainment at new hire processing.
Tarrant County will conduct background checks on new hires that will include a criminal background check related to convictions and deferred adjudication in the past seven years and may include credit reports, motor vehicle records, employment records and educational attainment. A conviction or deferred adjudication is not an automatic bar to employment. Each case is considered individually.
