Due to our continued growth and success, we are currently seeking a Shipping Document Specialist to join our team.
Position Overview:
The Shipping Document Specialist (SDS) processes customer sales orders for shipping via pick up, Century Fasteners delivery, and common carrier. The SDS will prepare and submit all paperwork associated with export and domestic truck shipments to various customer, suppliers, and part processors.
Essential Job Functions:
- Prepare bills of lading
- Schedule carrier pickups for all truck carrier shipments
- Maintain an orderly work area and conduct operations in a manner that promotes safety
- Create Commercial Invoices (all international orders)
- Create United States-Mexico-Canada (USMCA) documents for shipments to Canada or Mexico
- Must be able to identify/describe all materials on a pick ticket to process both commercial invoices and USMCA documents
- Determine the correct Schedule B, Harmonized Traffic Schedule (HTS) for each item shipping
- Maintain files and records for shipments
- File with US Customs and Border Protection for an Electronic Export Information (EEI) Internal Transaction Number (ITN) when necessary, for all international shipments
- Process Certificates of Origin, Certificate of Non-Wood Packaging, and Certification of Compliance for all orders to China
- Complete a Shipper Letter of Instruction (SLI) when requested and/or necessary
- Process all DHL shipments through DHL portal
- Email shipment notifications to customers containing files of Shipping Documents and corresponding tracking information
- Scan all commercial invoices into folder on server for sales staff to access
- Complete customer shipping requirements on customer shipping portals
- Send shipment approval requests to customer
- Inspect packaging, labeling, and ship methods for conformance with customer requirements
- Advise warehouse manager of any inventory discrepancies, or quality issues
Requirements:
- High School diploma, or equivalent
- Clean driving record, if performing deliveries
- Ability to lift cartons weighing up to 50 pounds
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to follow directions
- Attention to detail
Other Skills/Abilities:
- Previous warehouse experience
- UPS WorldShip and FedEx shipping experience
- Microsoft Excel proficiency
- Experience in using other MS Office suite of applications
