JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: SHIPPING CLERKReports To: LOGISTICS Manager
Department(s): ShippingFLSA Status: Non-Exempt
SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Responsible for accurate entry of materials into Global Shop software. Communicates, coordinates, and schedules shipments to customers.
SPECIFIC DUTIES, ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESINCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Maintain correct records in Global Shop (ERP) software.
- Organize and coordinate paperwork (Bill of Ladings and Packing List )
- Assist with packaging samples and communicate with other departments when necessary.
- Maintain accurate records, both paper and electronic, related to billing, work orders, etc.
- Work with customer service department and customers for the effective and timely completion of projects.
- Continually strive to meet Midland Metal Products standards.
- Maintain awareness of and continually practice safe work habits. Maintain safe work environment. Know and follow injury/illness-reporting procedures.
- Comply with 5-S standards.
- Work overtime when needed.
- Perform related duties as assigned or as the situation dictates.
- Email customer with shipment information.
- Coordinate pick up times with truck lines.
- Plan and coordinate shipments based on shipping schedule.
- Ensures shipping dock is in compliance with ISO procedures.
- Process accurate information in UPS World Ship and FedEx software system.
- Report all tracking information to daily sample schedule. And all shipment to daily shipping report.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Education and Training: Demonstrated knowledge of business, manufacturing, or related field.
Experience:
- Experience with process improvement methodologies (Lean Manufacturing, 5-S, etc) to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
Knowledge and Skills:
- US Citizen or Resident Alien Card
- Speaks English
- Ability to use a PC, in-house software, and Microsoft Office products, ERP, etc. to effectively administrate and organize departmental objectives.
- Familiarity with standard tools and units of measurement.
- Knowledge of packing/shipping/assembly principles and practices.
- Forklift Certification
- Valid Illinois Driver’s License
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Self-starter.
- Good understanding of mechanical and standardized processes.
- Ability to use problem solving methods and techniques to successfully and efficiently resolve problems.
- Well organized. Ability to work well under pressure, manage competing demands and meet tight deadlines with strong follow through.
- Unlimited or unimpaired ability to walk, bend, stoop, and climb. Ability to lift up to 70 lbs.
- Capacity to work as a member of a team or autonomously to achieve desired results.
- Be able to safely operate a variety of stationary or portable hand and power tools as needed.
- Ability to read, comprehend and utilize work orders, customer order confirmation and po’s.
- Basic math.

Pay: From $19.00 per hour
