Shipping Clerk
Reports to: Shipping Manager
This position will be responsible for organizing and assisting with the day-to-day logistical activities.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
· Setup delivery appointments for loads planned via email or phone calls to customers
· Coordinate with customers that are picking up their loads
· Assist with generating the bills of lading for all loads
· Communicate with the Shipping Manager details of all outbound/inbound loads and delivery times
· Assist with the monthly inventory by conducting the physical counts
· Is knowledge in all areas of shipping and backs up the Shipping Manager
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or GED preferred
Candidates must possess the following:
- Prior work experience in the corrugated industry
- 2 years’ experience in the Converting and/or Finishing Department.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
- Able to read and follow instructions on factory tickets, load sheets, and emails.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills required in both English and Spanish.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
- Able to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy.
- Able to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, measurement, volume and rate.
REASONING ABILITY
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or graphic form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving one or more concrete variables in standardized situations.
TECHNICAL SKILLS
The individual must have a working knowledge of the following:
- Equipment design and capabilities that can be translated into efficient operation.
- Product layouts and production specifications
- Product quality specifications
- Quality standards
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and talk or hear
- The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- The employee is occasionally required to sit
- The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts
- The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions
- The noise level in the work environment is usually loud
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 45 per week
