Job Overview
This is a role within the distribution center of Simon & Schuster, a 100-year-old company with offices around the world, that is also the only US owned book publishing house. For this role we are seeking experience warehouse associate.
What you will be doing on a daily basis

• Organize cartons on the pallet in a stable and space-maximizing manner.
• Secure the cartons onto the pallet to prevent them from shifting or falling during transport.
• Utilize straps, stretch wrap, or other appropriate materials to firmly bind the boxes together.
• Carefully position the loaded pallet on the designated spot at the shipping dock using appropriate machinery (forklift, pallet jack).
• Load the pallets strategically inside the trailer, ensuring proper weight distribution and maximizing space utilization.
• Operate a low rider forklift or other designated equipment to maneuver pallets efficiently within the warehouse and during the loading process.

Some requirements:

• Understanding and willingness to train on equipment such as Electric Pallet Jacks.
• Ability to operate equipment in a safe and controlled manner.
• Ability to handle 50+ pounds.
• You must have careful attention to detail and strong communication skills.
• Some analytical experience is preferable.
• You must have the ability to stand for up to 8 hours/day

Shift and Schedule:

• Our distribution facility operates in 3 shifts and this particular role is part of the afternoon shift, working Monday- Friday (5:00 AM - 1:00 PM). There is an opportunity for overtime as well.

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York City, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
