Shipping and Receiving Associate

As a Shipping and Receiving Associate at our cold storage facility for fresh fruit, you will play a vital role in the smooth and efficient operation of our Shipping and Receiving processes. You will be responsible for accurately and safely handling incoming and outgoing shipments, ensuring proper documentation, and maintaining the overall organization of the warehouse. Your attention to detail, strong communication skills, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment will contribute to the success of our operation.

Shipping Duties:

Prepare outgoing shipments by verifying their accuracy and completeness.

Generate shipping labels, bills of lading, and other necessary shipping documents.

Coordinate with carriers and schedule pickups or deliveries.

Inspect and ensure proper packaging and labeling of outbound shipments.

Load shipments onto trucks or containers, taking precautions to prevent damage.

Receiving Duties:

Receive incoming shipments of fresh fruit, verifying quantities, and staging for quality inspection.

Unload trucks or containers using forklifts or other equipment, following safety procedures.

Record and reconcile received items with purchase orders or packing lists.

Identify and report any discrepancies, damages, or quality issues to the appropriate personnel.

Properly store received items in designated areas, ensuring organization and efficient space utilization.

Documentation and Record-Keeping:

Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all incoming and outgoing shipments.

Create and maintain files for shipping documents, receipts, and related paperwork.

Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements regarding Shipping and Receiving documentation.

Warehouse Organization and Cleanliness:

Keep the warehouse clean, organized, and free from hazards.

Maintain proper storage and labeling of products, ensuring easy accessibility and efficient space utilization.

Adhere to safety guidelines and report any safety concerns to the Warehouse Manager.

Requirements:

Bilingual English/Spanish is mandatory.

Experience with Famous Software is highly preferred.

High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in logistics or supply chain management is a plus.

Previous experience in shipping, receiving, or warehouse operations, preferably in a cold storage facility or perishable goods environment.

Forklift certification and experience operating material handling equipment is desirable.

Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling and documenting shipments.

Excellent organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Effective communication skills to interact with carriers, team members, and other departments.

Basic computer skills for generating shipping labels, updating records, and using inventory management systems.

Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy boxes or objects (up to 50 pounds).

Knowledge of safety procedures and the ability to follow them diligently.
