Position: Shipping and Receiving Clerk
Shift: 1st | Hours: 7AM - 3PM
Type: Full-Time | Mode: Direct Placement / Contract-To-Hire
Pay Scale: $18 - 20/hr | Industry: Manufacturing
As a Shipping and Receiving Clerk, youll play a crucial role in managing the flow of goods within our clients organization. You will be responsible for handling incoming and outgoing shipments, verifying and recording incoming merchandise or material, preparing items for shipment, and ensuring accuracy in all transactions. Attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment are essential for success in this role.
Key Responsibilities:
Shipping Duties:
- Prepare outgoing shipments by ensuring accuracy in packing, labeling, and addressing.
- Coordinate with carriers and logistics providers to schedule pickups and deliveries.
- Verify orders to ensure they match the provided documentation and resolve discrepancies if any.
- Utilize shipping software and systems to generate shipping labels, track packages, and manage shipping documentation.
- Organize and maintain shipping supplies and materials.
Receiving Duties:
- Receive, inspect, and record incoming materials or merchandise.
- Verify the accuracy of shipments and reconcile any discrepancies with orders or invoices.
- Unload deliveries and ensure proper storage of materials in designated areas.
- Update inventory records and maintain accurate documentation of received goods.
- Notify appropriate departments of received shipments and handle distribution to respective areas.
General Responsibilities:
- Maintain a clean and organized Shipping and Receiving area.
- Communicate effectively with team members and other departments to ensure smooth operations.
- Follow safety protocols and procedures while handling shipments and operating equipment.
- Assist in periodic inventory counts and audits.
- Collaborate with supervisors to implement process improvements for Shipping and Receiving operations.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience as a Shipping and Receiving Clerk or in a similar role.
- Familiarity with shipping software and inventory management systems.
- Proficiency in basic computer skills and MS Office applications.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to lift and move heavy packages as needed.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures related to Shipping and Receiving operations.
This position reports to Supervisor. It is a full-time role with typical working hours from [insert hours] with the possibility of occasional overtime during busy periods.
