Shipping and Receiving Clerk

Overview
SUMMARY OF POSITION - The Shipping and Receiving Clerk at Plant 85 are responsible for the safe movement and proper computer transactions of all goods both incoming and outgoing to the plant, as well as to the work centers around the plant. This position is broken into three tiers, based on the employee's qualifications and duties as described below.

JOB REQUIREMENTS and QUALIFICATIONS

• High School Graduate or GED
• Minimum of one years of logistics and/or manufacturing experience
• SAP or similar ERP software experience a plus
• Strong work ethic
• Safety-focused
• Good communication skills
• Ability to work under high pressure, in a deadline-oriented environment
• Average math skills

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

• Standing/walking for extended periods of time
• Physically twisting your body to see behind you while travelling in reverse in a PIT
• Flexibility to bend down and occasionally get on the floor to assist passing plastic banding through a skid
• Sitting for extended periods of time
• Typing (Tier 3)
• Talking on the telephone (Tier 3)
• Some heavy lifting (occasional need to be able to lift 75+ LB)

WORK ENVIRONMENT
This is a fast-paced work environment with consistent pressure to complete duties as outlined above which requires ability to manage multiple projects at a detailed level and provide support to many internal departments in a fast-changing environment. Many duties listed above are time-sensitive and have strict deadlines for completion

• Requires proper PPE (safety shoes, safety glasses, and cut-resistant gloves when appropriate)
• Tier 3 may also spend a significant amount of time in an office in addition to the floor

Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Apply plastic banding to outgoing pallets, and ensure those skids are both stable for shipment, as well as clean and acceptable for presentation to our customers
• Ability to operate a circular saw, jigsaw, and nail gun safely and confidently, in order to bolster protection to some of our more sensitive products during transit
• Operate a stretch-wrap machine to give our outgoing products a final layer of protection from the elements
• Qualified and licensed to operate a sit-down type PIT. Load and unload trucks while following appropriate safety measures
• Fill out the Forklift Daily Checklist if the lift is used
• Confirm roll count or box counts on skids coming to the Shipping Department from Slitting
• Confirm packing list pallet counts on incoming shipments
• Sign for incoming shipments, noting missing material and/or damage
• Keep the shipping/receiving area neat and tidy by sweeping and picking up debris on daily basis
• Assist in cycle counts when requested by the Warehouse Manager

• Tier 2 - Includes all above responsibilities when needed, as well as the below:
• Proficient in the basic ability to move material on the RF guns on the plant between various Storage Bins
• Put away incoming raw materials once tagged, including relevant SAP transactions

• Tier 3 - Includes all above responsibilities when needed, as well as the below:
• Qualified and licensed to operate both the sit-down and stand-up style PIT's
• Expanded SAP responsibilities, including the ability to receive all Purchase Orders, and the ability to supply the needed raw materials to the work centers using the RF device.
• Label incoming raw materials after receiving into SAP
• Distribute parcel packages after receiving into SAP (if necessary)
• Requires expanded communication across departments, from purchasing to production
