Primary Responsibilities:
- Oversee the implementation and administration of the organization's policies, systems, and procedures.
- Ensure that personnel and stakeholders have the necessary tools and resources to carry out their responsibilities effectively.
- Participate in financial management, encompassing budget planning, supply and resource management, donor contributions, fundraising, and special event operations.
- Supervise Department Heads in developing and maintaining programs.
- Track operational data accurately and thoroughly, reporting regularly on statistics, totals, balances, and the status of operational goals related to finances and program outcomes.
- Supervise personnel, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
- Monitor the daily care of animals, coordinating with clinic staff as needed.
- Support public relations and communication goals by keeping staff informed about programs and services and maintaining current and accurate public information on shelter animals and clinic services.
Qualifications:
- Shelter Management Certificate preferred.
- Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in nonprofit management, business administration, or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
- Genuine passion for animal welfare, accompanied by a current working knowledge of companion animal care and adoption issues.
- Current understanding of compliance issues involving pertinent federal, state, and local regulations.
- Experience with strategic and operational planning to ensure organizational goals and objectives are met.
- Understanding of financial management, budgeting, and accounting principles.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with strong public speaking abilities.
- Strong motivational, management, and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to provide leadership to both staff and the community.
- Strong commitment to the professional development of staff.
- Ability to be flexible and adapt to immediate or unforeseen challenges.
- Proficiency in the use of computers, particularly E-mail, the Internet, MS Word, and Excel. QuickBooks experience is a plus.
- Demonstrated proficiency across multiple social media platforms.
