Madden Industrial Craftsmen, a leading staffing firm, is currently in search of a dedicated Service Assistant/Specialist for one of our clients in Kent, WA. With over 35 years of service to the commercial truck and transportation industry in the Pacific Northwest, our client specializes in building and upfitting dry vans, flatbeds, and refrigerated vans.
Job Title: Service Assistant/Specialist
Pay Rate: $22-$25 per hour
Schedule: Monday to Thursday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM – Overtime is Available
Location: Kent, WA
The Service Assistant/Specialist plays a crucial role in the service team, assisting in triaging repairs, gathering necessary supplies during ongoing jobs, and collaborating with the Service Supervisor, Service Coordinator, Service Specialists, Operations Manager, and Office Manager. Responsibilities include assisting with material and vehicle pickups and deliveries, physically receiving materials, organizing shop flow, and ensuring purchased materials are well-organized by repair order. The ideal candidate possesses a valid driver’s license, a clean driving abstract, keen attention to detail, a sense of urgency, and effective verbal and written communication skills.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Run local errands to procure supplies as needed by the Service Department
- Conduct daily lot inventory
- Physically receive and check in parts
- Stock shelves with stock orders
- Pull stock parts for over-the-counter sales
- Collaborate with the Service Supervisor to establish a daily work schedule
- Stage trucks for repair and move repaired trucks to the staging area
- Monitor the progress and completion of repair orders in the shop, ensuring prompt handling of parts returns
- Perform quality-control checks, check out, inspect, and photograph each vehicle after repairs are completed
- Organize and label parts, stage parts for technicians at their workstations
- Coordinate parts returns for pick up or delivery to the original supplier after jobs are complete
- Use a forklift to unload and/or move parts and other freight as needed
- Maintain the shop, facilities, equipment, and yard to ensure a clean, organized, and safe workplace
- When all other tasks are completed, learn various trade job roles in the shop under the Service Supervisor’s direction
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
- Minimum three years’ experience in a similar service-related industry
- Certified to drive a forklift or ability to obtain certification
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 75 lbs. consistently; stoop, bend, twist, climb, and stand for extended periods
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated attention to detail and organizational efficiency
- Self-directed, displays curiosity, and seeks opportunities to learn
- Must pass pre-employment drug test and random drug testing per Company policy
- Own transportation and valid driver’s license are required
Work Environment: The factory noise level may require ear protection. The work area has forklift traffic and may occasionally require exposure to wet conditions, fumes or airborne particles, and vibration. Intermittently throughout the day, you will be required to go outside in various weather conditions. On occasion, there may be a need to lift, carry, push, and pull 75 lbs. Stooping, bending, twisting, climbing ladders, and standing for periods of time may occasionally be required.
