Job description

-Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and customer-oriented Bartender/Server to join our team. As a Bartender/Server, you will be responsible for taking orders, serving food and beverages promptly, preparing and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to our guests, and ensuring guest satisfaction throughout their dining experience. Your role will also involve maintaining cleanliness and organization behind the bar, and ensuring compliance with all food safety regulations.

Your friendly demeanor and attention to detail will create a welcoming atmosphere that keeps patrons coming back.

-Duties:

Greet and seat guests in a courteous and timely manner

Present menus and provide detailed information on menu items

Take accurate food and beverage orders, ensuring special requests are communicated to the kitchen

Serve food and drinks promptly and accurately, following proper serving etiquette

Prepare and serve a variety of beverages, including cocktails, beers, wines, and non-alcoholic drinks according to recipes or customer preferences

Check identification of customers to verify legal drinking age and refuse service to intoxicated or underage individuals

Check in with guests to ensure satisfaction and address any concerns in a friendly and professional manner, taking orders and making recommendations

Prepare dining areas by setting up tables and ensuring cleanliness

Collaborate with other staff members to ensure smooth operations

Handle cash and card transactions, including processing payments and providing accurate change

Uphold cleanliness and sanitation standards in dining and bar areas including restocking supplies and cleaning glasses, utensils, and equipment

Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines to maintain a safe environment for staff and customers

-Skills:

Previous experience in the food industry serving or bartending preferred

Familiarity with POS systems for order processing and inventory management

Excellent Communication: Servers/Bartenders need to communicate clearly with customers, colleagues, and kitchen staff to ensure orders are accurate and delivered promptly. Bilingual is a plus

Customer Service: Providing exceptional customer service is key, including being friendly, attentive, and responsive to customer needs and requests.

Knowledge of Menu: Should have a thorough understanding of the menu, including ingredients, preparation methods, and any potential allergens.

Attention to Detail: From taking orders accurately to delivering food and drinks correctly, attention to detail is crucial in ensuring customer satisfaction.

Ability to Multitask: Bartenders/Servers often have to handle multiple tables at once, so the ability to multitask efficiently is essential.

Teamwork: Collaboration with kitchen staff and fellow servers is necessary for smooth operations in a restaurant.

Problem-Solving: Bartenders/Servers should be able to handle customer complaints or issues effectively and find solutions to problems as they arise.

Organization: Keeping track of orders, tables, and timing requires strong organizational skills.

Knowledge of Beverage Service: This includes understanding wine pairings, cocktail ingredients, and proper serving techniques for beverages.

Upselling: The ability to suggest additional menu items or specials to enhance the customer's experience and increase sales.

Calm Under Pressure: Restaurants can get busy and stressful; servers need to remain composed and efficient during peak times.

Adaptability: Menus change, and each day can bring different challenges. Being adaptable to new situations is a valuable skill.

Hygiene and Food Safety: Understanding and adhering to food safety regulations and maintaining personal hygiene standards is essential.

Cash Handling: If responsible for taking payments, Bartenders/servers should be comfortable with handling cash, credit cards, and POS systems accurately and have the basic math skills for measuring ingredients and calculating bills

Positive Attitude: A positive and friendly demeanor can enhance the overall dining experience for customers. - Strong knowledge of retail math for handling cash transactions

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week
