About the Role:
The Server Administrator is an individual contributor role and will report to the IT Operations Manager. We are looking for a Server Administrator to assist with installations, configuration, and maintenance on a variety of hardware and software items which often involve creating users accounts, carrying out backup and recovery functions and monitoring performance of servers.
The typical workweek may include working with business leaders and end users. Deploying servers in a physical and virtual environment, patching Windows, and Linux servers, and assisting with Security remediation efforts. To ensure success as a Server Administrator, you should exhibit sound knowledge of server infrastructure (Linux and Windows), M365 technology stack, Active Directory, Azure Active Directory, and other related technologies. Success will be measured in terms of your ability to deliver results that meet or exceed the agreed upon requirements.
Responsibilities:
Server and Ticket Administration: 60% of typical work volume
- Under general supervision, assume the responsibility for maintaining the server environment (Windows and Linux).
- Participates in the patch management effort for the server environment (Windows and Linux) utilizing Ivanti ISEC and WSUS.
- Responsible for updating, managing and distribution of tickets utilizing the designated ITSM tool.
- Provisioning of CPU, memory, and storage resources.
- Lifecycle management of server environments.
- Participates in the integration of Active Directory and Azure AD with other systems.
- Participate in continuous improvement of all IT processes used by the Server team.
- Analyzing system logs and identifying potential issues with core systems.
- Escalation and coordination of issues with vendors as needed.
- Implement and maintain systems automation solutions.
- Oversee application deployments and upgrades.
- Interpret and solve problems either user initiated or via system alerts.
- Perform root-cause analysis of IT issues as needed in a complex, fast-paced environment.
Platform Maintenance 20% of typical work volume
- Responsible for monitoring the environment for changes to ensure systems are running efficiently.
- Support the organization by monitoring Monitor storage capacity of the environment to ensure appropriate space is available while addressing retention policies for the business.
- Installing with general supervision, operating systems, service packs, as well as security patches, bug fixes and protecting against security threats.
Records & Document Management: 10% of typical work volume
- Participates in updating server-related standard operating procedures.
- Create\Update changes controls utilizing the designated Service Desk tool.
- Creates release documents (i.e., change control records) for significant change or new site releases.
- Ensures the confidentiality and security of records is maintained.
IT Administration and Other Duties: 10% of typical work volume
- Keeping informed of developments in server, security and cloud related technologies and products.
- Participating in investigation of emerging and evolving technologies and architecture.
Position Requirements:
- This position is Remote.
- Associates degree in Networking, Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent work experience in IT Operations is Required.
- 2+ years of Server administration experience is Required.
- 1+ years’ experience with Azure Active Directory is Required.
- Proficient with Nutanix with AHV.
- Participate in planning, organizing, evaluating, and redesigning systems to meet company needs.
- Proficient in Linux and Windows environments.
- Experience in network, server, and application-status monitoring.
- Proficient in scripting/programming with emphasis in PowerShell.
