Governors State University is seeking to hire a Junior Server/Network Administrator to provide technical support to the university infrastructure. The position acts as a first tier support that manages and expedites support requests and provides direct end-user support to customers. The position provides assistance to other members in the infrastructure group as well as Information Technology Services. Position participates in projects as required.
Essential Responsibilities25% Provides end-user support that includes reviewing, classifying, routing, and responding to help desk tickets assigned to the infrastructure group. This includes monitoring help desk tickets and meeting defined SLAs.
20% Assists senior team members with tasks and projects. This will include working non-standard hours.
15% Provides first-tier support for common issues relating to the GSU infrastructure including but not limited to Windows server, VMware, Exchange, Microsoft 365, network switches/routers, and firewalls. This will include performing daily checks and correcting issues found during the checks.
15% Provides telephone, email, and in-person technical and functional assistance including training, documenting system processes, and developing procedures.
15% Maintains appropriate level of technical expertise through training, self-learning, and the use of various learning materials and resources.
15% Represents Governors State University Information Technology Services on appropriate campus committees and at intra-agency, statewide agency, vendor, and educational information processing meetings.
5% Performs other duties as assigned.
Starting Hourly Rate: $22.32.
(This is a non-unionized position. Salary starts at the base and is determined based on Education and Experience exceeding the minimum qualifications).

3. One year of work experience in information technology-related functions such as hardware/software support, programming, network design, network engineering, information technology systems integration, or closely related field.
