DANA-FARBER CANCER INSTITUTE
Dedicated to Discovery…Committed to Care
Senior Vice President for Education, Faculty Search
The Departments of Medical Oncology and Pediatric Oncology at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI) are inviting applications for a Senior Vice President for Education. This is a new institute-level position for a physician with broad expertise in medical education to expand our mission and impact in the training of medical students, residents, and clinical fellows at DFCI. The individual would be expected to work with existing training directors to develop new educational opportunities; act as a liaison with Harvard Medical School on educational issues; and interface with Chief IDE Officer to help ensure inclusion, diversity, and equity of our trainees.
The ideal candidate must have an MD or MD/PhD and a proven track record of outstanding contributions to medical teaching, developing educational programs, and a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with other physician leaders and educators. Clinical work will depend on the candidate’s background and interest and is encouraged but not required; the primary focus will be on educational program development and leadership. The chosen candidate will be expected to meet Harvard University’s criteria of teaching Harvard learners for a minimum of 50 hour per year.
The position is based at the DFCI but includes collaboration with other institutions affiliated with the Dana-Farber/Harvard Cancer Center and the Harvard Medical School. A personal interest in teaching medical students is desirable.
The academic appointment will be at the Assistant or Associate Professor level at Harvard Medical School and determined by the candidate’s credentials. Salary and benefits will be competitive with other institutions.
Interested candidates should submit a letter of interest by email along with their CV, research statement, and the names and email addresses of three references. A statement of up to 2 pages maximum that summarizes past experiences and accomplishments in medical education and program development is welcomed. Applications may be sent by email to:
