We are seeking a Senior Vessel Analyst/Inspection Scheduler (Preemptive Inspection Program) to support our client in Dulles, VA. Please see below for the job description and desired qualifications;
GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Assists in the management of the Detention Prevention Program to ensure compliance of the vessels with the international requirements to help prevent and or reduce Port State Control detentions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Supervise Vessel Analyst/Inspection Scheduler, Preemptive Inspection Program.
• Manages the operation of the Detention Prevention Program during the manager’s absence.
• Conducts vessel vetting and selection for Preemptive Safety Inspections as per standard vessel vetting procedures and standards.
• Provides “Vetting Training” to all team members.
• Manages case files in the Detention Prevention Program.
• Carries out DPP Duty Officer functions.
• Coordinates follow up to clients related to the Preemptive Safety Inspections and the Detention Prevention Program.
• Responds to client emails related to the Detention Prevention Program.
• Monitor all correspondence and ensure timely reply to requests and or questions regarding the scheduling of vessel inspections.
• Monitor and process vessel advance notices of arrival and pre-arrival checklists and arranging inspections as necessary including data entry and tracking.
• Responsible for the collection and data entry of PSC data from various sources (MOU, IHS, Equasis, AMSA, and USCG).
• Responsible for the requesting of Port State Control Corrective Action Reports from clients and the tracking and organizing of Corrective Action Requests and received Corrective Action Reports.
• Assist in preparing invoices as required.
• Assist with monthly newsletter for DPA’s, Vessels, and Inspectors and Auditors highlighting best practices, concerns, issues.
• Assist with maintaining record of positive interventions
• Cross trains with other personnel in the Fleet Performance department.
• Perform other duties and projects as may be required.
GENERAL QUALIFICATION GUIDELINES:
Experience, Education and Certification
• High School degree or GED required
• Maritime industry, legal, or compliance experience preferred.
• Previous training or experience with international regulations concerning Maritime Safety, Security, Environmental Protection and Maritime Labor Compliance preferred.
• Training in financial, quality or risk analysis preferred. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Excellent skills in English grammar, writing, and composition
• Highly organized, detail oriented, and ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines
• Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and general office equipment.
• Ability to analyze data to create information and make decisions
• Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work in a virtual team environment and be independently organized.
• Able to lift approximately 15 – 20 lbs.
