Senior Translational Project Manager

Overview
The Senior Translational Research Project Manager (TRPM) is responsible for assigned day-to-day coordination and overall management of translational and biobanking research projects supporting the research efforts of translational research investigators. Translational research projects might include coordination of collecting blood, tissue, clinical data, and/or stool-based research projects closely connected to clinical care and future treatment opportunities.
The Senior Translational Research Project Manager supports grant applications, progress reports, project initiation, regulatory needs for projects, general project management, and identifying patients for projects. This position will have the dual role of supporting the needs of clinical and laboratory-based investigators playing an important role in bridging the two sides of research.
The Senior Translational Research Project Manager has a high degree of independence and leadership accountability for managing a complex, multi-center research project. Specific tasks and responsibilities are varied and dependent on the needs of the department and investigators.
Responsibilities
The Senior Translational Research Project Manager will work with a high level of autonomy and independence and be responsible for the following:

• Day-to-day oversight and management of assigned projects.
• Assist PI with grant applications, progress reports, and other aspects of the grant funded research process.
• Assist PI with regulatory needs of projects including new protocol submissions, amendments, deviation filling, and other needs based on the nature of the project.
• Lead and participate in periodic meetings with internal and external collaborators.
• Assist Clinical Research Managers or Senior Translational Project Manager(s) with supervision of staff working in project areas of responsibility.
• Assist senior manager(s) in the running of multi-center collaborations including collaborative grants like U01s and other grant funds collaborations.

• Assure that the project team meets all deadlines and is also to maintain an ongoing working relationship with Research team and Principal Investigators.
• Prepare and present status reports to key stakeholders; depending on project needs, these reports may include information about project timelines, status of deliverables, and/or resources requirements.
• Assist Clinical Research Managers or Senior Translational Project Manager(s) with staff supervision with staff working in project areas of responsibility.
• Maintain overall responsibility and major decision-making authority for day-to-day operations and may supervise research group, which may include Translational Research Project Managers I and II.
• Collaborate closely with investigators to develop, design, and implement research protocols, study procedures, data analysis plans and data use agreements.
• Oversee project reporting and interprets more complex data analyses.
• Contribute significantly to design of studies and assists with protocol writing, manuscript drafting and grant preparation, including writing sections of such materials.
• Assume leadership responsibility for managing a complex, multi-center research project.

Qualifications
Minimum Education:
Bachelor's degree required, preferably in a field relevant to clinical research. Master's degree preferred.
Minimum Experience:
7 years of project management experience required with Bachelor's degree or 5 years of project management experience required with a Master's degree. Experience working on translational research projects preferred. Experience in an academic institution is preferred. Supervisory experience preferred. Must have expert knowledge of regulatory affairs, research ethics and the responsible conduct of research.
