The Technical Designer is responsible for developing and maintaining a consistent level of quality and fit for Children’s Sportswear, Layette, Swimwear, Outerwear, Dresses (newborn – big girls/boys size 16)
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Work with Design and Production teams to establish and maintain fit and construction standards to ensure brand consistency and quality
- Create spec packages for each style including correct grade rules and non-standard construction details
- Accurate measurement and evaluation of development, proto samples for spec, quality & workmanship
- Prepare and lead fit sessions with Design and Production Depts
- Communicate measurement, construction and workmanship comments to vendors, including providing detailed explanations, diagrams and/or patterns as needed
- Work with Production and Compliance Depts to ensure all products meet relevant children’s safety requirements
- Answer questions via email regarding fit, specs, pattern and construction as needed
Job Qualifications - The right candidate must:
- have minimum 7 years relevant experience, preferably in childrenswear
- be familiar with measuring sample points of measurement to ensure submitted samples are within tolerance of required specifications• have strong knowledge of knit and woven garment construction
- have knowledge of patternmaking, sewing terminology and garment construction• have understanding of garment manufacturing and product development process
- be proficient in the use of Excel and MS Word; knowledge of Illustrator a plus
- be detail oriented and organized with strong written communication skills
- be a team player able to effectively multi task and work independently while meeting deadlines in fast paced environment
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
