Job overview:
OmniOn Power is seeking a Senior Tax Manager to be based in Plano, TX.
In this newly created position, you will partner with the Director of Global Tax and Treasury to build a stand-alone tax department and be an integral part of the current tax transformation initiatives to automate tax processes, implement OneSource, enhance data analytics and re-imagine how the tax function operates.
You will be responsible for the full life cycle of US Direct and Indirect tax. Partner with external providers to prepare and review Direct and Indirect US tax returns; ensure compliance with US tax reporting of Controlled Foreign Corporations and develop processes to optimize R&D credits and other tax incentive and saving opportunities.
This role reports directly to and partners closely with OmniOn Power Director of Global Tax and Treasury.
Essential Responsibilities:
Take a leading role in the current tax transformation initiatives to automate tax processes, enhance data analytics and re-imagine how the tax function operates.
Manage the full life cycle related to US Federal, State, Franchise, Sales & Use and Property tax.
Coordinate with external tax advisors of preparation and review of:
Monthly Sales and Use tax return filing and payments
Quarterly US Tax Provision
Quarterly Federal and State estimated tax payments
Annual Federal, State and Franchise tax return preparation, review, filing and payments
Annual Property Tax return preparation, review, filing and payments
Management for all US tax reporting matters. Role includes issue identification, monitoring, and reporting effective tax rate, budget to actual analysis & relevant tax accounting topics including controlled foreign corporation impacts such as GILTI, FTC, FDII, WHT, etc.
Partner with business and finance to develop and manage US research & development capitalization and credit calculations.
Identify other investment and incentive opportunities, and actively seek tax savings opportunities.
Identify and monitor tax compliance risks and ensure proper recognition of accounting method changes and business transactions for tax compliance purposes.
Ensure that relevant internal controls related to the full tax life cycle are designed and performed effectively and efficiently.
Work with Treasury to develop the escheatment process.
Other responsibilities:
Lead monthly/quarterly/yearly tax provision process, for the global business, including tax accounting under ASC740 and IAS12
Assist Director in the identification, execution and implementation of strategic planning opportunities including research and tax modeling.
Assist Director on various US and Global tax projects.
Supervise tax analyst.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field. Master in Tax preferred.
10 years of relevant, progressively more advanced tax compliance and tax management roles, in a publicly traded global corporation and/or in public accounting working with publicly traded corporations.
Desired Characteristics:
CPA
Strong quantitative skills and deep technical knowledge of US Federal and State Income tax laws and practices, including R&D credits, UNICAP, State apportionment, etc.
Experience with US international tax provisions including Sub F, GILTI, FTC, FDII, BEAT
Experience of US Sales and Use tax laws and practices
Strong tax research skills to quantify, and document tax positions and strategies via the development of templates for future application or by means of comprehensive technical memos.
Strong written and verbal communications skills, including experience communicating complex tax issues and requirements to people without a tax background.
Experience working with OneSource or other automated tax engine.
Experience working with Vertex or other indirect tax engine.
Experience with contract manufacturing operations
Expertise in ASC 740; IAS12 a plus
Working knowledge of SAP preferred
Experience in US GAAP and IFRS preferred
Experience working on global tax system and ERP implementations from a tax view
Independent and self-driven with the ability to adapt and get things done in a fast-moving, global, matrix organization.
Experience working with diverse cultures in a publicly traded global business with sound understanding of global process and transactional flows.
Critical thinking with the ability to scrutinize, challenge, and offer both practical and risk weighted solutions.
Demonstrated experience in managing cross functional global projects with focus on process improvements and leveraging technology.
Demonstrated experience leading and development of successful teams.
Skilled in the use of Microsoft office software to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
