Position Summary
STERIS is looking for a Sr. Systems Engineer to join its Infection Prevention Technology (IPT) Team located in the greater Cleveland area. The Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for overall technical leadership and responsibility for the technical realization of a key new, or substantially evolved existing feature or feature set. This position reports to the platform manager and is the technical stakeholder leading the system level reviews working within the project constraints of schedule, cost, performance, quality and reliability objectives.
Duties
• Drives refinement/ translation of stakeholder requirements (Customer, safety, reliability, clinical, serviceability, manufacturability, quality etc.), requirements management policies of the program and quality of requirements, development of technical approach, top level design, feasibility of potential technical solutions, and allocation of derived requirements (including functionality, interface specifications and design budgets) onto affected subsystems.
• Plans, oversees and executes the Systems Engineering activities in the project, including Initiation, coordination, synchronization, review and integration of the technical work performed within various Engineering disciplines
• Leads cross-discipline feasibility and tradeoff studies. #LI-KS1
• Drives system-level design & technical reviews.
• Leads derivation/budgeting/allocation of system/subsystems requirements and interfaces.
• Leads defect management, risk management, usability activities
• Leads the preparation of documentation, including configuration documentation, DHF etc.
• Leads system integration (follow up, analysis, problem solving), verification and validation.
• Defines testing requirements and strategy and drives formal verification & validation

Education Degree
Required Experience
• BS Degree in Engineering related discipline
• Minimum three progressive years of experience in Systems engineering or minimum seven progressive years of experience in capital equipment development.
• Preferred: Five progressive years of experience in Systems engineering.
• Three plus years involvement in a multi-discipline project development environment.
• Three plus years of engineering experience in one area and deep understanding in a second one (like SW/ EE/ME).
• Systems thinking acuity
• Demonstrated ability in technical analysis including evaluation of multiple candidate solutions and significant evaluation of intangibles
• Ability to propose methods, techniques and evaluation criteria to realize product functionality
• Proven technical leadership in matrix environment.
• Excellent communication, influencing and conflict resolution skills
• Experience with technical writing and English fluency
• Excellent technical writing, and presentation skills; English fluency.
• Preferred: Six Sigma background
• Preferred: Systems modeling background
