Job Description
LS Technologies is currently seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to support the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in Oklahoma City. This position will provide technical support to the FAA during the migration from the FTI network to the FENS network. The candidate will work directly with the FAA and FENS vendor to assist in the establishment of test bed used to validate interoperability between FAA systems and the FENS network.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
The individual will be supporting the FENS Second Level Engineering (SLE) group in Oklahoma City to provide the following activities and will report directly to the FENS Technical lead:
- Provide technical guidance in the procurement of new equipment and services.
- Provide technical assistance in the installation, operation, and maintenance of equipment and services.
- Investigate problems being experienced with equipment and services.
- Develop modifications to equipment hardware and software.
- Conduct trend analyses on the reliability of equipment and services.
- Troubleshoot failures in equipment. Conduct testing of equipment and services.
- Generate maintenance documentation for equipment and services. Maintain configuration control of equipment and services.
- Generate and distribute site specific firmware.
- Establish and maintain equipment support facilities. Assess the security status of equipment.
- Provide technical assistance and/or coordination with authorized FAA and government organizations seeking assistance.
- Attend meetings and conferences.
- Review of program-related documentation.
- Provide engineering consultations, investigations, and documentation of findings (i.e., white papers).
- Develop briefings and presentations.
Required skills:
- Strong knowledge of TDM and IP based telecommunications systems.
- Strong knowledge of TDM and IP based test equipment.
- Experience troubleshooting and isolating communication issues on TDM and IP based systems.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Outlook) and Microsoft Visio.
- Experience supporting engineering disciplines across a system lifecycle.
Desired skills:
- Knowledge of the FAA National Airspace System (NAS) and NAS information systems.
- Effective interactions and communication with executives, managers, employees, customers, and stakeholders.
Education:
Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering, mathematics, computer science or related discipline; and with 11-15 years' experience in systems design and development support experience.
