Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Ownership of RHC (holding company, IHF and IHF Trust), CLM (operating company and Trust) or ORF financial statements
- Daily or weekly (as necessary and appropriate) reconciliation and posting of customer payments to the General Ledger (Undeposited Cash)
- Monthly closing and financial statement preparation for selected IHF entities, per the above
- In conjunction with the monthly closing:
- Reconcile all cash accounts
- Review and post activity associated with bi-weekly payroll transactions
- Prepare monthly roll forward for all Balance Sheet accounts, including Loss Reserve
- Prepare and document all month-end closing and adjusting journal entries
- Post all workpapers, invoices and other documentation to the General Ledger
- Post all loan sale transactions
- Maintain integrity and organization of the General Ledger
- Prepare consolidating and consolidated financial statements, as appropriate
- Address legacy issues required to ensure continued conformity with GAAP
- Present, explain and defend monthly financial statements to Assistant Controller(s) and CFO
- Interact with client (i.e., Open Road Finance Corporation) as appropriate
- In conjunction with bank and regulatory reporting:
- Prepare and update monthly workbook required by lender
- Review covenant compliance and borrowing base certificate with Assistant Controller(s) and proactively identify any issues and concerns
- Address questions and issues from lender
- In conjunction with the annual financial statement audit:
- Prepares schedules and workpapers required by auditors and address questions and inquiries related to accounting activity and accounting processes, procedures and internal controls
- Prepare an explain analyses to identify and validate revenue and expense trends
- Prepare data visualization to illustrate revenue and expense trends
- Support the annual budgeting process
- Collaborate with Assistant Controller(s) Director of Financial Planning and Analysis to align General Ledger to internal reporting requirements
- Prepare, present, and explain monthly financial statements for internal verticals down to contribution margin
- Document Accounting processes and procedures germane to financial statements
- Identify opportunities to enhance automation and efficiency of financial statement preparation and to enhance internal controls and the internal control environment associated with Accounting and financial reporting
Essential Competencies
- Solid technical knowledge and conceptual understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and their application, especially as such knowledge and understanding relates to Accounting issues and reporting requirements of a financial services business and the sale and transfer of financial assets
- Substantial experience with monthly closing and financial statement preparation, account reconciliations, general ledger structure, and reporting capabilities
- Deep understanding of internal controls and their application
- Deep understanding of Accounting policies and procedures and their preparation and application
- Ability to present and explain the financial statements and identify potential financial reporting issues
- Experience with auditing and preparation for financial statement audits
- Ability to work cross functionally and to understand the actual and potential impact of business issues on the financial statements
- Commitment to continuing career development and professional education
Preferred Education and Experience
- Degree in Accounting
- Strong conceptual knowledge and understanding of financial statements, financial statement preparation and management of the General Ledger
- 4 - 5 years of experience in Public Accounting or Industry
- Previous experience in as a senior Staff Accounting or comparable leadership role
- Ability and confidence to work independently
