Our client is looking for an experienced Spacecraft Power Engineer to support space vehicle development. This includes all phases from conceptual design to development, integration, test, and delivery. Typical space vehicle applications include a spacecraft bus, a smart upper stage, an in-space transfer vehicle, and a hosted payload platform. The selected candidate will be responsible for leading the power subsystem and working side-by-side with other engineers in a team environment.
Job Summary
- Understand the spacecraft bus and electrical power subsystem as a whole
- Perform trade studies to optimize the electrical power system based on technical compliance/cost/schedule/mass or other key parameters
- Be responsible for detailed technical knowledge of various electrical power equipment including power electronics, spacecraft batteries, solar arrays, spacecraft harnessing, etc.
- Develop requirements for power systems components
- Interface/support thermal management subsystem design, bus electrical schematics, and cable harness layout
- Interface with vendors of power electronics, batteries, solar arrays, etc. to support procurements and provide technical oversight of subcontractors
- Prepare proposal costing and technical assessments
- Prepare and present technical packages for design reviews
- Develop ground support equipment, in concert with other disciplines, for performing power system testing
- Support manufacture, integration, and test of power system
Qualifications
- 5+ years space systems experience
- 2+ years of applicable Spacecraft Power systems engineering experience
- B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering
