As a Senior Database Engineer on the Industrial Cloud team, you will be part of a growing group of problem solvers who think outside the box and push boundaries to deliver innovative customer solutions. You will be focused on developing best practices for the datastores behind our industrial IoT platform. At Generac, we are committed to providing sustainable cleaner energy products and technology. Essential Duties at and Responsibilities:
Develop and own best practices for designing, building and maintaining production datastores for high availability and scale
Automate infrastructure provisioning, monitoring and autoscaling for datastores
Explain complex technical data concepts to customer support, product managers and other engineers
Work with product and engineering to understand how customers use our data, identify inefficiencies and propose solutions
Collaborate with teams across the organization on database standards
Challenge the status quo, engage in technical discussions, code reviews, and design docs to promote a culture of learning and constant improvement
Coach and mentor engineers on database best practices and implement tooling to enhance developer experience
Minimal Qualifications:
B.S. in Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent years of work experience
6+ years of database experience from design through development
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
At least 5 years of experience running databases in production cloud environments
Solid experience with a variety of data stores (sql server, postgres, redis, dynamodb, cassandra)
Passionate about architecture especially as it relates to the data layer, microservices, data reliability practices, data privacy and quality
Strong desire to automate everything from infrastructure to every day toil
Experience with infrastructure as code, preferably Terraform
Naturally curious and growth oriented
Contribute to opensource projects
Compensation:
Generac is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The salary range for this role when based in Denver, Colorado is $100,000 to $130,000. This compensation will ultimately be in line with the location in which the position is filled. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidate’s relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location. This role is eligible for variable compensation including short- and long-term incentives. Hybrid work environment is supported, position locations available in Denver, CO.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion, the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend, or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel.
