Electrical Engineer Intern
Location: Greenwood Village, CO
CLP Engineering (CLPE) is a full-service electric utility solutions engineering firm with more than twenty years' experience in electrical utility system ownership, upgrades, maintenance and operations through our sister company, City Light & Power. CLPE offers a wide range of power system engineering services to investor-owned, municipal, cooperative, government, industrial, and commercial customers.

Summary/Objective:
Under the direct supervision of staff engineers, the intern will perform entry-level engineering, administrative, and technical work in order to gain work experience related to their ELECTRICAL ENGINEERing degree program.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Will use CAD software to update drawings for electrical systems including high voltage utility substations, switching stations, and commercial/industrial power distribution systems.
- Assist in the preparation of engineering calculations, specifications, and designs.
- Update, and maintain GIS database for electrical distribution systems
- Support the development of concept design alternatives, engineering calculations, analysis, and engineering estimates for small-scale system improvement projects for substations and distribution systems.
- Other duties as assigned.

Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications, & Experience:
- Undergraduate student currently enrolled in an ELECTRICAL ENGINEERing degree program at an accredited university.
- Must be entering senior year in the degree program.
- Interests/coursework in power systems and the electric utility industry preferred.
- Working knowledge of CAD software preferred.
- Experience using Microsoft Office products, including Outlook, Word and Excel.
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills supporting the ability to work effectively as a contributing team member
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
- This is a full-time hourly position for the summer months. Office hours of work are Monday through Friday.
- There is no relocation assistance provided for the internship.
Travel:
- Minimal travel expected.
Work Authorization/Security Clearance:
- You must be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship.
Compensation:
- $21.00 - $26.00/hour depending on experience.
