Walmart Advanced Systems & Robotics is a rapidly expanding initiative with the objective of revolutionizing the retail landscape through robotics. Our development and implementation of the cutting-edge Alphabot® technology are currently underway, with deployment in stores across North America.
We're seeking a Senior Software Engineer to help implement an operational dashboard for managing and monitoring bots, inventory, and totes for micro-fulfillment centers. You'll work on prescriptive and directed applications so our micro-fulfillment centers can run optimally and efficiently.

WHAT YOU'LL WORK ON:
- Expand upon the application utilizing Java, Spring, Kafka, Angular, reactive microservices, etc.
- 80% backend and 20% frontend based work
- Write clear, modular, and documented business logic, messaging, and user interface code.
- Be a technical lead and mentor to other team members
- Drive technical discussions and be proactive in identifying and resolving issues.
- Contribute to SDLC and coding best practices.
- Develop and design RESTful, streaming services and APIs.
- Ensure that non-functional requirements such as security, performance, maintainability, scalability, usability, and reliability are being considered when architecting solutions.
- Participate in code reviews and design discussions.
- Troubleshoot issues
- Assess, investigate and incorporate new technologies.
- Play an active role in helping the team develop high-quality software that meets the customers' needs and is delivered on time.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:
- 6+ years experience in creating scalable, mission-critical, enterprise applications.
- Passionate about creating high-quality software
- Experience using any of the following technologies: Angular, Java, SpringBoot, Kafka, or Akka.
- Enjoys asking questions to get to the root of problems and to gain a deeper understanding of the needs of the end-user.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Enjoys learning new technologies and creating compelling software.
- Familiar with git source control management and issue tracking using a tool such as Jira.
- Someone who can work as an individual contributor and mentor junior team members as needed.
- Should be able to work with minimum supervision.
- Comfortable working in an agile, collaborative team environment
- B.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, or related area
