Job Description
We are looking for a highly motivated computational biologist/ bioinformatician to join our team to develop and build analytical and informatics solutions that enable accurate diagnosis.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead the development of analytical frameworks and computational methods targeting applications such as single cell, variant calling, epigenetics and multi-omics.
- Explore the usage of existing tools or pipelines and come up with novel algorithms when needed.
- Write production-level code and contribute to the codebase.
- Present findings and results to the team and collaborators.
- Author scientific publications
Qualifications
- Master’s or Ph.D. degree, preferably in computational biology, bioinformatics, data/computer science, machine learning/AI, or statistics.
- At least 3 years of hands-on experience in developing bioinformatics pipelines, implementation of algorithms for NGS data, and analysis of omics data.
- Understand typical pipelines and methods, such as RNA-seq, sequence alignment, genome assembly, variant calling, etc.
- Familiar with general bioinformatics software and can investigate/install/understand the usage of state-of-the-art methods and tools.
- Familiar with the statistical methods in genomic analysis and the basics of machine learning/AI methods.
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Demonstrated independence in carrying out research and development in a collaborative environment.
- Coding and software engineering:
- Fluency in Python programming language, and knowledge of one of the other high-level languages (Go is preferred), able to quickly learn and program in a new language when required.
- Familiar with unit tests, code review practices, version control systems such as Git, and container deployments.
- Preferably had experience working with the cloud computing environment and/or Linux servers.
