What You'll Work On

• Experience leading very complex, interdisciplinary and highly complex projects. Creating new products to the marketplace. Understand assay development and integration to devices to product commercially viable and customer centric point of care tests.

• Designs and executes experiments; applies advanced multi-disciplinary analytical techniques.

• Analyzes data from multiple experiments, formulates conclusions and determines future experiments. Integrates data and identifies critical process variables.

• Presents scientific observations to others. Presents regularly at Management Stage Gate Reviews. Presents external to R&D (within other areas of or outside of Abbott).

• Generates and champions new project ideas. Establishes project and leads project planning, updates and process improvements. Able to translate top-level goals to specific project level goals for individual team member.

• Establishes and reviews complex plans for multiple projects or activities. Plans resource allocation and distribution. Develops contingency plans.

• Submits ideas for inventions; publishes; innovates through patent filings and/or scientific publications. Capable of performing FTO's (Freedom to Operate).

• Be able to provide direction to project team to meet economic profitability (EP) profile for the project (product cost analysis).

• Leads larger or multiple project teams and direction to less experience employees. Involved in interviewing, training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work and resolving technical problems; has a lead role in the integration of new products with the commercial areas, including brand development, sales strategy, quality assurance, legal, marketing and operations

Required Qualifications

• B.S in chemistry, biological or physical sciences, or mathematics with minimum 12 years experience.

• 12 + years of progressively responsible positions in a research development environment. PhD a plus.

• Practical Lab Skills with increasing knowledge complexity with experience.

• More advanced Problem –solving skills with experience.

• Has good knowledge of science and the ability to apply more complex and advance principles and techniques.

• Technical and engineering experience in assessing software, hardware, chemical and BLE communication products.

The base pay for this position is $144,100.00 – $288,300.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
