Job Description
Sewickley Academy is seeking to hire a long-term substitute Senior SchoolBiology Teacher with a strong academic background, with an anticipated start in February 2024.
The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic science educator who leverages technology and interactive teaching methods effectively. Their active participation in the school community, collaboration with colleagues, and commitment to fostering positive learning relationships will be vital.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plan and facilitate meaningful, rigorous, level-appropriate instruction to students enrolled in college-preparatory biology courses.
- Collaborate with Science Department members to deliver instruction that challenges and inspires students to think independently, creatively, and critically
- Contribute positively to the growth and development of the Science Department
- Mentor and support students as they strive to become stronger scientists and critical thinkers who are well prepared to take on the challenges of college-level courses
- Embrace the school's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion and continually evaluate curriculum and pedagogy to reflect this commitment
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred
- Ideal candidates will have a minimum of three years of secondary school science teaching experience
- Exceptional written, oral, and interpersonal skills
- Proven success working collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, parents, and school leaders
