We seek a RetireeHealth Consulting Actuaryto join Segal’s Health consulting practice. The individual will affiliate with our New York Office and work a hybrid (partly in-office, partly from home) work schedule.
This is an excellentopportunity for an ideal candidate with consult within the region as the primary technical resource on both Retiree Health valuations and related consulting activities consulting primarily to the corporate market.
Key Responsibilities:
The role offers significant visibility, working closely with health and retirement consulting staff and external clients on a wide range of complex and challenging issues. Specific responsibilities include but may not be limited to:
- Analyzing and developing health costs and trends,
- Pricing plan design changes,
- Conducting experience studies and actuarial valuations of corporate sponsored health and welfare plans (CAS knowledge a plus),
- Supporting complex health and welfare studies on a variety of issues including Health Equity, litigation support, and workforce analytics.
- Conducting final reviews of both liability and claims aspects of the actuarial valuation and will have signing authority for valuation reports.

Key Requirements:
- Undergraduate degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, or related quantitative discipline.
- Minimum of ten (10) years of external experience within a benefits consulting and/or insurance company environment performing in relevant roles. Strong experience, if not expertise in, Retiree Health actuarial (i.e., GASB 74/75 and/or FASB ASC 715/965), claims and liability aspects (highly desirable) and experience supporting retirement plan work a plus. Ability, if not experience, working on projects involving both health and retirement plans.
- Associate or Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (Enrolled Actuary a plus); membership in the Academy of Actuaries.
- Flexibility to adapt to the emerging benefits environment that is the intersection between retirement and Health Consulting,
- Project management skills: ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines; requisite computer skills.

The current salary range for this position is $124,500 to $165,000 (flexibility depending on the candidate’s experience) plus an annual performance bonus based on company profitability and employee performance.
