About The Job

Rampart Bioscience is currently seeking a Senior Research Associate or Research Associate, Gene Delivery Technology, Process Science.

You will be working with our growing Gene Delivery Technology team on process development and manufacturing of DNA vectors to support internal therapeutic gene delivery programs. Responsibilities include process scaling and characterization to improve robustness and our understanding of operation and performance parameters; and optimization of downstream purification processes including clarification, filtration (TFF/FD), and chromatography. Additionally, in this role you will support drafting SOPs, documentation of results, and the preparation of technical reports and presentations. The ideal candidate will be highly detail- and task-oriented, have a collaborative mindset, and will be comfortable in a fast-paced environment.

The Impact You Will Make

Sr./ or Research Associate, Process Science will work within the Gene Delivery Technology team. The focus will be on the optimization and development of downstream processing efforts, but the individual will also work with others to complete cross-functional projects.

What You'll Do

• Conduct routine analytical assays to monitor product quality and yield.
• Conduct experiments for upstream and downstream process development.
• Execute activities to develop a scalable gene payload manufacturing process.
• Execute chromatography, tangential flow filtration, depth filtration, and other purification techniques in the process development laboratory setting.
• Maintain accurate laboratory notebooks and contribute to technical reports and presentations.
• Keep up to date with literature and scientific advances in downstream processing.
• Support maintenance and troubleshooting of laboratory equipment.
•  Support technology transfer into the manufacturing.
• Present results of work at internal meetings.

What You’ll Bring

Required Education and Experience:

• B.S. / M.S in chemical engineering, biochemical engineering, bioengineering, or relevant field AND 2 years of experience in process development or MS&T in Biotech.
• Hands-on experience in purification processes, equipment, and software.
• Knowledge of pharmaceutical science and gene therapy.
• Knowledge of recombinant DNA cloning and DNA manipulation techniques.
• Basic knowledge in biologics downstream bioprocessing.

Required Qualifications:

• Demonstrated planning, multitasking, and flexibility skills to work across a variety of projects and complete work on time.
• Superior written and oral communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
• Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills, and the ability to work independently and effectively in a highly dynamic environment.
• Ability to travel locally to support technology transfer as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in discovery and/or early development of biopharmaceuticals.
• Experience with downstream unit operations (clarification, tangential flow filtration, and various chromatography systems)
• Good understanding of biopharma / Gene Therapy process development.

Compensation, Benefits & Additional Information

Compensation range: $67,000 - $90,000 commensurate with qualifications and dependent on the position.
