he Wa er Resources Research Cen er (WRRC), a uni of he Cen er for Agricul ure, Food, and he Environmen in he College of Na ural Sciences, suppor s research, educa ion, and ou reach on wa er resources issues of s a e, regional, and na ional impor ance as par of he na ional sys em of ins i u es au horized under he Wa er Resources Research Ac of 1964. Es ablished in 1965, he Cen er encourages an in erdisciplinary approach o resolving s a e and regional wa er problems and has involved he Universi y sys em and many o her Massachuse s colleges and universi ies in i s research. he WRRC's Research Gran Program s imula es and funds research on wa er resources hroughou higher educa ion ins i u ions in Massachuse s. Several of WRRC's long- erm projec s have provided consis en wa er resource da a over many years. hese include he Mass. Acid Rain Moni oring Projec , a volun eer-s affed moni oring effor since 1984 wi h a 40,000-sample da abase, and he Blacks one River Wa er Quali y S udy, a comprehensive mul i-s a e moni oring and analysis projec since 2004.
Job Summary
he Senior Research and Adminis ra ion Manager is responsible for he opera ion of he Wa er Resources Research Cen er (WRRC) and i s programs by securing Cen er base funding hrough proposal wri ing, leading he WRRC's Research Gran Program, overseeing budge and program adminis ra ion, par nering wi h facul y on gran proposals o and con rac s wi h he WRRC and wri ing annual and o her repor s.
Essen ial Func ions

• Leads and oversees day- o-day managemen of he WRRC, including s aff and s uden s aff supervision. Oversees implemen a ion of s ra egic plans, projec developmen and comple ion.
• Secures base funding by preparing annual gran proposals and ac ing as liaison wi h funding sources, especially he Na ional Ins i u es of Wa er Resources and he U.S. Geological Survey,
• In coopera ion wi h WRRC direc or, represen s WRRC regionally and na ionally.
• Leads WRRC communica ion wi h he campus communi y, he public, and he wa er resource professional communi y in Massachuse s and New England.
• Develops and facili a es wa er resource rela ed workshops, seminars, speaker series and conferences.
• Oversees informa ion ransfer for wa er resources and main ains web si es, lis servs, and answers inquiries from he public and he media.
• Organizes research and educa ional programs for in ernal and ex ernal audiences and even s and par icipa es in one or more Cen er projec s as adminis ra or or researcher.
• Provides primary liaison be ween WRRC and o her CAFE uni s and programs, including UMass Ex ension, he Mass. Agricul ural Experimen S a ion and he UMass Cranberry S a ion.

Minimum Qualifica ions (Knowledge, Skills, Abili ies, Educa ion, Experience, Cer ifica ions, Licensure)

• Mas er's Degree in a field direc ly rela ed o he environmen , na ural resources, or engineering.
• wo o hree (2-3) years' work experience in wri ing gran proposals, gran adminis ra ion, and budge oversigh .
• Excellen communica ion, edi orial, wri ing, and organiza ional skills.
• Abili y o work effec ively wi h facul y, agency s aff, volun eers, and he public.
• Abili y o work effec ively leading web design and publica ion/presen a ion developmen .

Preferred Qualifica ions (Knowledge, Skills, Abili ies, Educa ion, Experience, Cer ifica ions, Licensure)

• Specific educa ion and raining in hydrology or wa er resource managemen .
• Demons ra ed success working wi h facul y, agency s aff, volun eers and he public.
• Demons ra ed success in ob aining gran funding from federal and s a e agency sources.
• Prior experience managing ci izen-science research ac ivi ies.

Physical Demands/Working Condi ions

• In addi ion o ypical in-office working condi ions, he Manager will be able o ac ively par icipa e in field-based ac ivi ies including wa er moni oring and sampling.

Work Schedule

• Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 5:00pm or equivalen .
