Job Purpose
The Senior Quality Manager, Global Operations will interact with a variety of people who impact the success of the Global coding/compliance program, and functions as a facilitator, liaison, and/or motivator. The Senior Quality Manager, Global Operations will work closely with Senior Vice President, CDI & Coding Quality to ensure the coding integrity of the Global coding team
Duties and Responsibilities
- Liaises with Global managers to assist with the daily operations of the Global coding unit including workload and staffing; hiring, disciplining, and performance appraisals; training; and monitoring quality of work.
- Develops long-range and short-term goals, objectives, plans, and programs and ensures they are implemented.
- Reviewing of processes, and providing recommendations for improvement of operations
- Assists in implementation, training, planning, developing, and management of the coding unit.
- Assists with development and maintenance of policy and procedures
- Identifies, assesses, and resolves problems. Prepares administrative reports and/or logs, as required
- Support Coding team with questions and issues.
- Field questions from account representatives and clients
- Oversees and helps monitor the Global coding compliance program. Develops and coordinates educational and training programs regarding elements of the coding compliance program such as appropriate documentation and accurate coding to all appropriate staff including coding staff, physicians, billing staff, and ancillary departments. Ensures the appropriate dissemination and communication of regulatory, policy, and guideline changes.
- Oversees coding audit efforts and coordinates monitoring of coding accuracy and documentation adequacy. Reports noncompliance issues detected through auditing and monitoring, the nature of corrective action plans, and the results of follow-up audits to the directors of hospital and the compliance officer.
- Conducts trend analyses to identify patterns and variations in coding practices.
- Use, protect and disclose patients’ protected health information (PHI) only in accordance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) standards
Qualifications
- At least 2 years of experience managing and monitoring global coding teams.
- India based team experience strongly preferred
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience coding and/or auditing is required
- CPC certification AAPC or CCS certification from AHIMA (both preferred)
- Extensive knowledge of coding principles and guidelines.
- Strong managerial, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications such as Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook
- Excellent analytical skills.
