Job description

Patton State Hospital, Human Resources Department, is accepting applications for at least one (1) permanent, full-time knowledgeable, experienced, and dedicated Senior Psychologist (Specialist) - Neuropsychologist in the Psychology Services Department.
The successful incumbent will have the ability to provide comprehensive neuropsychological assessments for our criminally and civilly committed psychiatric patients in an inpatient state hospital setting. In addition, the position includes managing the hospital's psychological assessment materials, providing consultation, and training for other staff members, supervising psychology interns and students, and assisting with quality oversight for various psychological assessments. Experience with and the ability to provide training, consultation, and supervision in psycho-diagnostic and forensic assessment is preferred.
Applicants must possess a valid license as a Psychologist issued by the California Board of Psychology and possession of an earned Doctorate Degree in Psychology from an educational institution meeting the criteria of Section 2914 of the Medical Board of California's Business and Professions Code AND either: a) One year of experience in the California state service performing the duties of a Psychologist (Health Facility) (any specialty), or Staff Psychologist (any specialty) OR b) Two years of postdoctoral, post-internship experience in the practice of psychology involving assessment and treatment and either training, research, consultation, or program planning in mental health services.

    Working Conditions
    Patton is a forensic psychiatric hospital and was established in 1890 and opened in 1893. DSH-Patton provides treatment to forensically and civilly committed patients within a secure treatment area. The hospital does not accept voluntary admissions.

    Desirable Qualifications In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
  • 2 years of postdoctoral experience in neuropsychological assessment with board certification or board eligibility as a Neuropsychologist.

  • OR
  • 5 years of postdoctoral experience in neuropsychological assessment with no board certification or board eligibility.
