The County of San Diego is currently accepting applications for the position of
SENIOR CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST

Future Salary Increases
** July 2024 - 2.75% increase to base pay

$116,209.60 annual base salary


There are current vacancies for the Health and Human Services Agency's (HHSA) Behavioral Health Services (BHS), Juvenile Forensic Services and Child Welfare Services, and Edgemoor Skilled Nursing Facility. The list established from this recruitment may be used to fill future vacancies as they occur.
The BHS, Juvenile Forensic Services position will be based in one of several juvenile detention facilities. Senior Clinical Psychologists perform critical psychological services and a wide variety of professional work such as psychological assessments, evaluation, crisis intervention and psychotherapy to youth and adolescents in probation facilities. Incumbents are licensed clinical psychologists that provide individual and group therapy, perform clinical duties, and may coordinate and oversee the training of psychology interns.
The Child Welfare Services position will be co-located in regional offices with child welfare social workers and staff. Clinical psychologists assigned to Child Welfare Services will perform a wide variety of professional work such as participation in case consultations, evaluations, crisis intervention and support of staff. Positions in this class are licensed clinical psychologists or licensed clinical social workers providing guidance regarding mental health, secondary traumatic stress and other related issues under the guidance of a managing clinical psychologist.

The Edgemoor psychologist position is a full-time, on-site position serving 192 residents in the distinct part skilled nursing facility. Job duties are varied and depend on the strengths and interests of the applicant but include individual psychotherapy, capacity evaluation, Behavioral Care planning, interdisciplinary collaboration, group therapy, and integration with other disciplines to provide a therapeutic milieu for patients that have complex medical and psychiatric and psychosocial conditions. Ability to do neuropsychological testing is a plus. Will participate also in setting and writing policies and procedures, chairing the Quality of Life Committee, attending the Quality Council Committee, and supervising the Social Work Department which consists of 5 staff members.

INTERVIEWS AND HIRING PROCESS
Job offers for selected candidates will be made shortly after the interviews. Candidates should be prepared to immediately complete background paperwork, upon receipt of a job offer.
The timeline for this recruitment is outlined below. Please note that dates are approximate and are dependent upon the successful completion of each step of the process.
  • Job Offer and Background Process begins: Shortly after the interviews.

  • Pre-employment Medical Screening: Approximately 3 days following successful background investigation results.

  • Anticipated Start Date: Start date will be based upon successful completion of medical screening or other mutually agreed upon date.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Qualified candidates must possess:

  1. Licensure by the State of California as a Psychologist; AND,
  2. Graduation from an accredited U.S. college or university, or certified foreign studies equivalency with a Ph.D. or Psy.D. in clinical, community or educational psychology; AND,
  3. Four (4) years post-doctoral experience in a mental health, forensic or correctional setting.
Notes:
Candidates must be licensed by the State of California as a Psychologist (CA Administrative Code, Title 9, Section 624). Employees outside California whose education and experience are sufficient to gain admission to the licensing examination shall have two (2) years from the date of employment in California to become licensed or employment shall be terminated. Such employees shall take the licensing examination at the earliest possible date after the date of his/her employment.
A valid National Provider Identification Number (NPI) is required at time of employment.

CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT
