Job Description
1. General
- Manage scope, schedule, budget and quality assurance of AMP automation projects through completion
- Communicate accurate project status to MPC Management, AMP Program Director, and Refinery Leadership Team
- Coordinate with other AMP managers reporting to the AMP Director including Construction, BPCS, Document Control, Procurement, Project Controls and SIS Managers.
- Support project objectives, including EHS&S performance, cost, schedule, reliability, quality, operability, and maintainability
- Participate in engineering and construction activities throughout the entire phase, including Project Quality Assurance and MPC’s stage gate process.
- Align projects with refinery constraints, MPC Marathon standards and AMP standards and processes
- Organize planning activities to meet project objectives and requirements approved by MPC management and the Refinery Leadership Team.
- Provide management and oversight of engineering contractors and vendors providing project services
2. Project Management
- Coordinate and provide oversite of the technical work executed by technical managers, construction managers, project controls, document controls, administration, procurement, and Project Engineers.
- Execute work under the AMP and MPC standards, procedures and requirements meeting program objectives.
- Ensure timeliness of all input for P&ID reviews, process safety management (PSM) reviews, design reviews, model reviews, EHS&S personal safety, and other FEL requirements during Feasibility and Definition phases of the project.
- Complete weekly status reports for the project and provide input or develop program slide presentations as needed for project meetings and reviews.
- Ensure site EHS&S design considerations have been addressed early in engineering design
- Provide oversight of engineering contractors, kickoff, project setup and deliverables provided by the contractor
- Organize kickoff meeting and site surveys as required for the project
- Mange Project Risk Register development and coordinate completion of workshops, register updates and participation
- Ensure adequate participation by AMP, refinery site operations, maintenance, and other stakeholders in project testing and design reviews
- Manage project close out and the turnover of project drawings and data required by site to operate new facilities
- Provide support for turnaround-related engineering deliverables to ensure items are planned in a timely manner and that refinery personnel have an up-to-date understanding of scope related to their area of responsibility
- Ensure review, concurrence, and approvals for the project Basis of Design (BOD), project quality assurance and decision support packages at the end of stage gates.
- Manage change management for any project scope, budget, or schedule changes. Ensure MPC and Refinery management approve any changes outside project constraints.
- Organize and manage schedule Interactive Planning Sessions, Workshops and weekly schedule look-ahead reviews with project participants and stakeholders
- Ensure project execution follows an integrated project scheduled with stakeholder input
- Ensure fiscal responsibility of project finances based on approved budgets by the Refinery Leadership Team.
