Position Summary:
Champions the planning, development and life-cycle management of strategic commercial product and service strategies consistent with the company charter and objectives. May manage one or more Product Managers and other supporting staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Champions the planning, development and life cycle management of strategic product and service strategies consistent with the company charter and objectives.
- May manage one or more Product Managers and other supporting staff.
- Works closely with directors of development, sales, services, and marketing communications in developing product, sales and marketing plans and schedules to ensure the company's success.
- Evaluates market and operational needs, impacts and uses to create financial justification for product, sales and marketing plans
- Directs, plans, and coordinates product releases
- Involved in product positions to market
- Communicates pertinent product-/market-related information, ensures company is aware of product goals and status, and is trained to market, sell, and support offerings.
- Maintains strong understanding of market place and close relationship to customers and prospects for awareness of customers' needs and perspectives.
- Seeks and identifies new products and service opportunities based upon market trends and customer needs.
- Guides, mentors and evaluates reporting staff.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 7+ years directly in product management
- Able to operate as a matrix manager in coordinating people and other resources from multiple areas of the company.
- Excellent management skills with ability to effectively direct company’s product management department in order to maximize revenues and profits.
- In-depth knowledge of marketing principles and practices.
- Effective time management, communications, decision making, presentation, human relations and organization skills.
- Technical and comprehensive knowledge of broad business areas.
- Proficient in project management and process improvement.
- Bachelor's degree in business or marketing. Advanced degree preferred.
