Senior Process Engineer
Phinite is a start-up company dedicated to solving the manure management problem that exists on and around hog farms in Southeastern North Carolina.
Our novel drying system transforms lagoon sludge into organic fertilizer. Our system includes a drying shed that houses a robot which agitates the material to dramatically accelerate the drying of the sludge. We then process the dried raw product into a premium fertilizer product to be transported and sold across the country.

We are ready scale our operations so that we can make a lot more of our premium product. The company is currently investing in large capital projects to multiply our current production capabilities. We are building many enormous drying sheds, constructing a processing plant, and building sludge extraction systems that can serve multiple lagoons throughout the region. Our company’s exciting growth has created an immediate need for a Senior Process Engineer. Summary of Responsibilities:
The Senior Engineer will take a leading role in the establishment of large-scale sludge harvesting and fertilizer processing systems from the initial stages to production. This individual will take on responsibilities related to the development of a new fertilizer plant. The Senior Engineer will oversee the design and implementation of sludge transportation systems.
Job Functions:
● Manage the new construction and implementation of a new manufacturing plant
● Select and price new equipment
● Provide detailed process layouts, drawings, and schematics
● Oversee a team of engineers and mechanics
● Design auger and pumping systems to extract wet sludge
● Design dry product processing system and bagging line
● Budget and plan for high level projects
● Provide technical expertise and troubleshooting
● Specify technical constraints and qualities of finished product
● Establish Quality Assurance protocols
Required Qualifications
● Bachelors Degree in Mechanical, Mining or Agricultural Engineering or on the job experience equivalent to this
● 10+ years of related engineering experience
● Experience with dry and wet bulk material handling
● Extensive knowledge of processing equipment including but not limited to conveyors, mills, dryers, screeners, pumps, agglomeration and dust management systems
● Proficient in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Creo, or other CAD software
● Excellent communication and project management skills
Desired Qualifications:
● Past management of large-scale manufacturing construction projects
● Experience related to manure fertilizer production

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $130,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
