Job Overview

 

What you are:

Process lead for stamping, molding or assembly related topics you will ensure the processes are running at optimum levels for quality and output.

An expert in mold tooling, die tooling, machining, and assembly techniques.

Possess extensive knowledge of the associated manufacturing processes which may include the optimization and standardization of stamping / molding / assembly etc. processes within the manufacturing environment.

Be the interface between engineering and manufacturing/production.

 

 

What you will engage on:

  • Ensures manufacturability of new designs and smooth production ramp up. Support research and development teams to produce sample manufacturing equipment, product samples and prototypes.
  • Launch and project manage new molds, and / or thermoplastic injection mold builds. 
  • Create RFQ and mold specifications on prototype and production molds.
  • Work with product engineers and customers on refining the plastic part design to achieve or improve manufacturability. 
  • Designs and develops manufacturing process platforms and automation platforms and applies these for the realization of new product developments as well as optimization of existing products already in production.
  • Supports Product Development in the selection and optimization of tools for piece part production and the selection of the most suitable manufacturing concepts related to planed manufacturing quantities, quality requirements and manufacturing location.
  • Aligns the TE BU plants to reach TEOA requirements, rolls out CoE and Best Demonstrated Practices (BDP's) and advises plants on tool and machine duplications / corrections / improvements.
  • Utilize engineering tools to optimize gate location, melt delivery system, and TIPM to compensate for warpage and shrinkage effects.
  • Participate in and manage Mold Design Reviews with internal and external mold tooling suppliers. 
  • Specify, quote, and procure new Injection molding machines and auxiliary equipment for the manufacturing plants. 
  • Work with Process Engineers to develop and optimize the initial Molding Processes on new molds using SIM guideline and cavity pressure transducer technology. 
  • Analyze & interpret CT Scan data of molded parts using Volume Graphics software.  Disposition and prepare conditioning plans & direct mold suppliers to correct non-conforming dimensions on new molds until they meet product drawing and PV test requirements. 
  • Work with other engineering disciplines on the launch team to ensure all product requirements are met all the way thru to the final sellable part or assembly. 
  • Work with Quality Engineering to develop the Process Flow, PFMEA, and Control Plans. 
  • Advise and Direct Process and Tooling Technicians on process and tooling related issues that need to be addressed. 
  • Release molds to Sustaining Engineering after all product specifications have been met.
  • Work with Launch Team and Sustaining Engineers to ensure that all product and process requirements are met.
  • Work closely with tool-makers to improve and document mold design Successfully Demonstrated Practices.
  • Utilize Model Based Definition process for product and tooling development, working closely with Product and Mold Engineers to develop and maintain accurate information in digital format for entire product lifecycle.
What your background should look like:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Plastics, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering preferred)
  • Project Management education and/or experience will be preferred (MBA is a plus)
  • 5 years minimum experience in tooling / plastics engineering. Automotive industry experience preferred.
  • Experience with evaluating results of flow simulation using software such as Autodesk MoldFlow or MoldEx 3D
  • Experience with in-mold pressure sensors and data acquisition systems is a plus. 
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of mold making trade. Tool shop apprenticeship program background is a plus. 
  • Proficient in PTC CREO or SolidWorks utilizing 3D modeling capabilities: Extensive working knowledge and experience with Part, assembly, and drawings.
  • Previous Mold Designer exposure or experience is a plus. 
  • Working knowledge of geometric tolerance techniques.
  • Knowledge of AIAG requirements for PPAP.

COMPENSATION
    Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $100,320 - $150,480 (subject to change dependent on physical location)
    Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
    Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
