Senior Process Engineer at Chevron Pasadena refinery. This position will mentor early career Process Engineers, interface and support Operations in the process optimization opportunities and projects’ scope development and implementation. This position will report to a Process Engineering Team Lead for an Operating Division in the Pasadena refinery. This position is relied upon for technical expertise to drive gross margin and reliability improvement opportunities, process safety improvements and cost-effective technical solutions.
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
- Provides process troubleshooting support, make technical recommendations, answer technical inquiries, improve Process Engineering tools, and develop process procedures.
- Participates in PHA/HAZOP, LOPA, alarm management etc. studies to improve plant safety and reliability.
- Helps identify gaps between current performance and best-in-class and recommend opportunities for improvement.
- Conducts test runs to optimize process variables and evaluate plant performance.
- Provides technical recommendations and engineering support during planned and unplanned unit shutdowns. This work may entail work at heights and confined space entry.
- Works in collaboration with specialists and engineers of other disciplines.
- Networks with subject matter experts in other facilities to leverage shared expertise.
- Influence and improve work processes across the refinery.
- Individual schedule may require flexibility to respond to refinery upsets during off hours.
Required Qualifications:
- B.S degree in Chemical Engineering
- 5+ years of experience in Process Engineering and/or Process Design in chemical, petrochemical, refining complex process facilities, engineering companies.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Confident user of process simulation and process visualization software: HYSYS, Pro-II, Pipephase, Hexmon, PI Vision etc.
- Experience with preparation for plant turnarounds and equipment field inspections.
- Familiarity with Process Safety Management concepts and principles such as PHA, LOPA, Alarm management program etc
- Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels within the organization.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
