Position Role Type:

Collins Aerospace is seeking a Senior Materials & Process Technology Engineerwho will provide analysis and literature research and development of materials and processing engineering specifications involving metals, non-metallic or composite structural materials for products design, or operations of product to include structures, mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and equipment designs. This position will also provide analysis of damage tolerance, durability and design allowables.

Location: – Onsite (Haltom City, TX).

  • May be eligible for relocation

Primary Responsibilities

  • Perform duties with the Materials and Process Engineering Team serving as a specialist in the areas of chemical processing, heat treating, surface finishing, metallurgical testing or failure analysis of metallic structures and electronic assemblies.

  • Consult with Value Stream Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain and Quality as needed.

  • Work with plant sites and/or sub tier suppliers to troubleshoot processing issues.

  • Applies principles of chemistry, physics, and material behavior to perform root cause investigations of metallic, non-metallic, composite and polymer materials.

  • Provides technical leadership and assists training of less experienced engineers, when required to help them diagnose and solve problems, enhancing their capabilities.

  • Creates and implements common procedures and standard work across the organization, to optimize efficiency and quality.

  • Analyzes, researches, designs and develops materials for use in engineering design of and/or application in structures, systems and subsystems.

  • May review and approve contractor processing procedures.

  • Applies engineering principles to drive interim and final solutions to technical, operational, and quality issues as they relate to production.

  • Implements, develops and maintain product continuous process improvements.

  • Teams with others in root cause analysis.

  • Collaborate with the Production Team to meet business metrics as defined by Cells. (Safety, Quality, Delivery and Costs).

Qualifications/Experience Needed:

  • Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience

  • U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee or asylee) or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations required:https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-22/chapter-I/subchapter-M/part-120/subpart-C/section-120.62

  • Minimum of 5 years of prior relevant material selection or materials processing or materials coatings experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with failure analysis of ferrous and non-ferrous metal components.

  • Aerospace industry experience.

  • Experience with Boeing D6-1276 requirements and Landing Gear processing.

  • Experience in Chemical Plating baths

  • Experience in project management

The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
