Job Description:
The Senior Principal Compliance Specialist role will be responsible for compliance advisory activities specific to applicable regulatory requirements impacting the respective business line or corporate function. This includes identification and advising on compliance risks and mitigants in the context of issues management and remediation; regulatory change management; business change management for products, services, and systems; policies and procedures; monitoring and testing reviews; process and control assessments; and third-party oversight and training. The Senior Principal will also advise on and facilitate compliance with established Compliance Management System (CMS) governance and programs. In addition to these core advisory functions, the Senior Principal will have periodic involvement in regulatory exams, including drafting and reviewing exam responses; will lead and participate on cross-team Compliance department projects; and provide reporting to management on CMS risks. In executing these functions, the Senior Principal is expected to collaborate closely with other colleagues within Compliance, Corporate Risk Management, the Legal Organization, other lines of business and Corporate functions, and risk officers. Actively manages and escalates risk and customer-impacting issues within the day-to-day role to management.
Responsibilities:
- Researches and understands regulatory compliance requirements to evaluate whether business policies, procedures, training, systems, processes, and controls comply with applicable laws and regulations; and to articulate those risks to stakeholders.
- Engages with business and risk partners to develop compliant solutions to mitigate and remediate consumer compliance risks; escalates risks appropriately.
- Understands Compliance Management System (CMS) components and the requirements of established CMS programs and promotes a culture of compliance.
- Executes compliance advisory functions within CMS programs.
- Leads identification and assessment of CMS program risks and mitigants.
- Creates and updates status reports of program initiatives, activities, and Compliance risks to management and committee.
- Strong understanding of US Bank regulations and how to adapt them to compliance oversight reviews of applicable laws, rules, regulations, and controls.
- Working with business and 2LoD partners to structure the CMS program elements to ensure the company is in compliance with laws and regulations, policies, procedures, to include controls and processes are adequately designed and operating effectively for Key Programs that include, but not limited to: Market Risk, Liquidity Risk, Credit Risk, Capital Planning, Regulation W, and other applicable FCS regulations as well as working with stakeholders to identify and manage changes in legal or regulatory obligations relating to these key programs.
- Demonstrates knowledge in financial markets and specifically including experience with Market Risk, Liquidity Risk, Credit Risk, and Capital Planning risk management methodologies, implementation of FDIC Part 370, and Regulation W.
- Provide advisory services to business and Corporate risk management partners with respect to applicable regulatory requirements for the Finance and Corporate Services business unit to ensure that Compliance Management System (CMS) elements are adequately designed and implemented to meet CMS requirements, address potential gaps, weaknesses and non-compliance with laws and regulations.
- Experience with advising on and managing compliance elements for SOX, FDIC Part 370 and Regulation W.
- Strong knowledge of current Federal Reserve Board and Federal Deposit Insurance Corporate regulatory frameworks including supervisory policies and procedures.
- Experience in reviewing policies, procedures, standards, training material and developing and recommending risk mitigation strategies to address identified weaknesses or potential vulnerabilities.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills required to develop partnerships and relationships throughout the organization.
- Up to 15% domestic business travel. In lieu of a degree, 12+ years of experience in Compliance, Law, Risk, Operations, including some people leadership

- In lieu of a degree, 12+ years of experience in Compliance, Law, Risk, Operations, including some people leadership or related
Bonus Points If You Have:
- Master's degree in Business, Security and Intelligence, Law, Information Technology, Analytics or Finance
- 10+ years of experience in Compliance, Law, Risk, Operations, including some people leadership or related.
- JD, CISA, CIPP, CRMP, PMP, RIMS or similar preferred

Compensation:
The base pay for this position generally ranges between $103,000.00 to $174,200.00. Additional incentives may be provided as part of a market competitive total compensation package. Factors, such as but not limited to, geographical location, relevant experience, education, and skill level may impact the pay for this position.
