Job description

The Senior PL/SQL Developer (Global Supply Chain Planning) is responsible for implementing enhancement requests and handling support for both domestic and international business users working individually and in a team.

The Senior PL/SQL Developer (Global Supply Chain Planning) will support, maintain, and utilize Blue Yonder Demand and ESP applications, along with custom Oracle APEX applications for plan execution as well as data ingestion, maintenance and reporting between multiple on-premises and cloud external applications.

This position will work within the following Supply Chain Planning applications:

  • Blue Yonder Demand
  • Blue Yonder Enterprise Supply Planning
  • REACH / REACH RM
  • Supply Chain Planning Workflow
  • DSF Business Object universe

The incumbent must be a solid performer with strong problem solving and communication skills. Additionally, this individual will have development skills in Oracle SQL, PL/SQL, Oracle APEX, or similar. Experience with the Blue Yonder architecture and applications is highly desired.

Strategy & Planning

  • Work with management to generate quarterly work plans.
  • Participate in recommendation of improvements to existing technical processes.
  • Research tools and technologies and identify those that can best help serve the needs of clients.
  • Research and implement related tools to improve development process.
  • Provide recommendations to address and resolve business issues for a specific business group.
  • Recommend system changes and enhancements for continuous improvement.

Development & Deployment

  • Accept service requests received from the user community and assigned by management.
  • Gather requirements from the user community, fellow developers and system documentation.
  • Review design with users, development staff, support staff, and management for adherence to all requirements and completeness in solving the user problems at hand, as well as supportability, maintainability, user understandability, and utility.
  • Implement design using Oracle database, PL/SQL business logic, and Oracle APEX as necessary.
  • Create and maintain system and user documentation.
  • Test your enhancements and the system with the help of other developers and users.
  • Submit and conduct peer reviews of designs and implemented solutions.
  • Submit proper requests and documentation for software release.
  • Provide user support for new software implementations.

Operational Management

  • Complete Continuous Improvement projects as needed.
  • Accurately report hours spent on project in a timely fashion.
  • Participate in design reviews and testing as needed.
  • Assist users with problems and resolve issues independently.
  • Assist with occasional daytime support as needed, assisting users and resolving issues.
  • Update system and user documentation whenever required.
  • Work with existing systems to track and manage requests and issues.
  • Provide business reports to management and clients.
  • Assist fellow developers in problem resolution, support, and development.
  • Stay appraised of relevant software and technology trends, making recommendations to the team.

Safeguard Continuous System Availability

  • Respond immediately to reports of system error, outage, or instability
  • Support efforts to update and upgrade systems as necessary to maintain integrity.

FORMAL EDUCATION:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in a Supply Chain Planning, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Information Technology field of study (e.g., Information Technology, Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering, Computer Systems Management, Mathematics)

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

Required:

  • 5+ years IT experience
  • 5+ years of Oracle PL/SQL experience.
  • Significant experience solving complex problems using PL/SQL
  • Working knowledge of software development and support methodologies.
  • Some exposure to web development.
  • Demonstrated skill in requirements gathering, project management, analysis and preparation and maintenance of work documents.

Preferred:

  • Oracle Application Express
  • Any web programming development skills (Javascript / jQuery / ajax / css / html / ADP / React)
  • Business exposure to sales, manufacturing or distribution planning.
  • Knowledge of Blue Yonder systems, specifically Demand and ESP.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to sit, stand, hear, and see on a constant basis.
  • Must be able to walk, write, and type on a frequent basis.
  • Must be able to climb and descend stairs.
  • Must be able to bend, carry, reach, push, and pull on an occasional basis.
  • Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing.
  • May work indoors and outdoors as needed. Exposure to heat up to 120 degrees and cold to 0 degrees.
  • May work in areas where noise level is such that hearing protection is required.
  • May work in areas where toxic, flammable, and hazardous materials are present.
  • May be exposed to varying amounts of dust and dirt.
