Sql Developer And Data/Business Analyst

Steelite International is seeking an experienced SQL Developer and Data/Business Analyst to join our finance team at Steelite International in Youngstown, Ohio. SQL Developer and Data/Business Analyst is responsible for providing subject matter expertise, technical vision, and solutions to one or more business applications. The SDBA will find the best business and technical solution among all possible to solve the existing database design, development, and business reporting requirements; this individual must be able to communicate to both technical and business resources, such that there is a clear understanding of the business solution approach.

What will I do as a SQL Data/Business Analyst?

Essential Job Functions

·         Conduct deep technical and business discovery sessions with business users and develop creative solutions; analyze business and technical reporting requirements and recommend solutions

·         Partner in the IT strategic planning process by taking an active role in IT portfolio investment strategies via assessment and rationalization of proposed enterprise capabilities

·         Interpreting data to identify trends and draw conclusions about business performance

·         Establishing guidelines for database design, including database security measures

·         Providing data input, processing, retrieval, and output services using computer applications such as spreadsheets or database management systems (DBMS)

·         Creating database schemas that are compatible with existing systems

·         Works closely with all business units and engineering teams to develop a strategy for long-term data platform architecture

·         Dataset creation using custom T-SQL.

·         Develop procedures and scripts for data transformation and data migration.

·         Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the various systems they support

·         Implementing and maintaining formal SQL coding processes, documentation, and standards.

·         Prepare and maintain technical design documents

·         Work with other IT team members to develop APIs to extend the functionality of the various business applications

·         Work and communicate with team members to develop new solutions.

·         Establish a collaborative framework across the area they support and the enterprise

·         Continually seek and consider innovative solutions to business and operational problems; apply as relevant in support of the organization’s mission

What are the qualifications and skills?

The ideal candidate must have:

·         5+ years of experience in the full life cycle of designing and developing databases and applications using MS SQL Server

·         Microsoft SQL programming, database design, and query tuning.

·         Microsoft SQL Reporting Services (SSRS)

·         TSQL: Complex queries, stored procedures, views

·         Error handling via TRY/CATCH with event logging

·         Locking/block management

·         Familiarity with the practical application of NoSQL\NewSQL databases.

·         Dashboard design tools

·         Experience in SSIS, SSRS, PowerBI and Tableau

·         Capable of troubleshooting common database issues

·         Solid understanding of Data Lakes vs Data Fabric vs Data Meshes vs Data warehouse

·         Familiar with tools that can aid with profiling server resource usage and optimizing it

·         Proficient understanding of code versioning tools such as {{Git / Mercurial / SVN}}

·         Strong knowledge of common database procedures such as upgrade, backup, recovery, migration, etc.

·         Knowledge of database administrative tasks is a plus

·         Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology or equivalent experience

·         Critical Thinking — Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems

·         Complex Problem Solving — Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.

·         Active Learning — Understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making.

·         Microsoft Certifications is a plus
